An agent telling his player not to agitate for a move?
Yes if the agent can see even bigger £££ for himself in 12 months on a free transfer. If someone offers £20m in the next few days I think Vik will be gone; if they don’t why wouldn’t he just continue to do what he is doing, increase his ‘real’ value and go for nothing in Summer 24?

What? So his agent isn’t in his ear saying Vik let your contract run down with Cov and I can get you a £x million signing on fee plus £xK per week in salary?
This is rarely a good strategy for a player and wouldn't be in Gyokeres' case as it would mean a year more in the Championship on lower wages. Even then there's no guarantee of success at the end as he could get injured or lose form. I can't see any way Gyokeres would turn down an offer from a Premier league team in the summer and decide to run his contract down here.

It makes sense for someone like Waghorn, Dacosta or Hilssner to run down their contract but not for someone clearly on the way up like Gyokeres.

I don’t disagree but at this moment in time, if Everton are interested(?) then we would be stupid not to accept an offer of c£20m, which was my original point. The longer we have him the less he is worth to us. If we are offered that in the next few days and don’t accept ‘he could injured or lose form ‘. This is CCFC, we don’t get opportunities to make £millions on a player every day.

I don’t want him to leave just like I didn’t want Wallace, Thompson, Gillespie, Thomas, Hunt, Gibson ,Babb, Pearce, Dublin, .Boateng, Keane, Juke etc to go but it’s business. I was very young but I vaguely remember the outcry when Dennis Mortimer was sold to Villa best part of 50 years ago; nothing has changed, we are a stepping stone for good players and a selling club unfortunately.

I get your point but we should keep him until the summer when in all likelihood he'll be worth more. And if we don't keep him we could slump disastrously.

Or he could get found out as a player, defenders know how to mark him and the goals stop coming. He could be like O’Hare and get injured and lose the opportunity for big dollars.

If I was him I’d be looking at O’Hare and thinking I don’t want to miss my big payday opportunity like he has when he was on the brink of a £45k a week payday

Doubt Everton will be bidding for Vik before this window closes. They're in the throws of getting a new manager and it's unlikely their board would allow the newcomer to throw money out of the window, hoping some of it saves them. And I'm not convinced that they'd go for him anyway. Look at who they've been linked with recently. They were poking around everywhere, looking for a band-aid to stop the rot under Lampard. Maupay ??!!

Of the two possible replacements, Dyche might like Viks style but I'm not so sure Bielsa would.

I cant see Vik going until the summer and the money raised will be the foundation of MR rebuild come summer. Im sure it will allow extended deals for existing squad players we need to tie down and the incoming of 2 or 3 players brought in to take the squad nearer towards the top 6.

I don't know King or his his intentions, but you can see his method and it suits Robbins to a tea. Im sure MR would prefer to succeed with us than fail anywhere else. And that's what has kept him with us. Leys hope the summer brings good things but we cant blame Sisu no more they with Fisher should never be allowed another club, that im ceryain of.

Football is a fast moving fickle environment . You don’t cash in and he does nothing special for the rest of the season and his value could half

We do sell him and face real possibility of relegation. We sell him now, we send ourselves up shit creek. Wish I could be as blasé as some who think we’d be fine with what we have left.

You know if he goes we can still play with 11 men right? It isn’t just as simple as removing his goals. Yes he is a good player but yes he doesn’t pass and our problems whoever is up front are around creativity.

If Doug rejects 15 million for a Championship player unproven at the top level when we have barely any other asset he is a fool.

Also Vik has been playing all through this shitty run? Not made a difference. The problems are behind him

Hasn’t scored for a while, sell, replace with inadequate panic buy. If he’s really worth it now, he will be in summer imo.
We’ll regret him going now, if he was to, I’m sure.

Different ownership, but not taking for granted he’ll be replaced properly. There’s 3 days left, it’s too late.

Can’t just ignore the goal contribution either. We’re 16 points worse off without them.

What happens, happens I guess. 🤷‍♂️

I also think looking at it , at let's say 20 million it would be the 4th highest fee ever paid for a championship forward .

The club simply won't say no , I'd be extremely surprised of they did

We have to remember there aren't really many players like vik .. for us he's a bit if a one off .

We will take a hit whe he leaves no matter when as the replacement is probably not going to be able to play like him .

It's a tough one

Agree with the sale, even more so with the price being bandied about. Just would resent the timing.

Say we got £15-£20m and Doug said to Robins, that’s your transfer kitty for the summer. Robins would snap his hand off.

I know it's ridiculous, I'm sure Frostie posted some stats about how many he creates for himself, which is miles ahead of any other players in the league. At least half his goals he has created himself. Hes a 1 man wrecking ball who drags us up the pitch 30-40 yards single handedly. The idea we wouldn't miss him and we would score as many goals without it him is ridiculous.

I don’t think to be fair many are suggesting it - it’s just a hypothetical discussion that a desperate club with a new manager and money from a transfer would pay significantly more than we’d get in the summer (when it seems certain he will go)

I suppose I’m fairly confident of winning today which would put the club 13th with 18 games left and 4 teams who cannot seem to buy a win

I can’t believe this many people think SBB was talking rubbish last summer - according to him, Gyokeres doesn’t even want to leave this season.

You are a broken record

No one says he wants to. Maddison didn’t want to go to Norwich

Well if this happens then it's obviously great , but it's coventry city , and it's everton (we are to believe )

One is a serial seller , the other is the countries 7th 8th most successful football club . His head will turn

The argument isn’t we wouldn’t miss him. Of course we would hes a twenty million pound player. The argument is that we wouldn’t go down and we aren’t going up so keeping him is a big risk for little reward.

If we had beaten Swansea, Cardiff and Bristol, I wouldn’t be quite as blasé as some are about what might happen if we let him go now rather than the summer. That said Everton late in the window and desperate-you could extract a very inflated fee.

But that fee would just make us the biggest spenders in League 1 if we can’t get enough points with who’s left.

Vik would be daft to go to Everton and get relegated when he may have different or clearer options in the summer.

Would he be daft though ? You'd imagine his wages will go upwards of 30,000 a week and everton won't stay down for long under dyche

What happens of his season falls off a cliff in terms of goals ? His stock is pretty high right now

I think if we lose Vik. It will be in the summer and 2 players I’d like through the door are Siriki Dembele and Deniz Undav. Probably cost a combined 5/6 million leaving room to improve the rest of the squad

How do we afford the wages? The transfer fee's one thing but the ongoing expense is a greater consideration, along with the wage structure in the club.

Meh. My biggest concern is adding to our difficulties this season. Daft to say no, daft to say yes.
