Is it me, or has our local media done a poor job on the whole rent-saga?
Wasn't it OSB who discovered the AVRO connection? And who had to tell the CT, who then ran it as an 'exclusive' in the next day's paper?
Didn't the (now former) editor of the CT once tweet about 'the biggest City story in years? Only in tomorrow's CT!' - that turned out to be more speculation about City buying back their half of the Arena. Suffice to say that didn't come to much and the Editor was later dismissed due to 'improper use of Twitter'.
As for CWR - Mr Linnell (good evening Stuart if you're reading this, bet you can't wait for Monday's post match phone-in!) has badly let down the rest of the staff there - regardless of what people think of ACL/SISU or 'which side their on' (surely that's CCFC?) - BBC staff have to fair and balanced and report both sides of the story, regardless of personal opinion. After all, we pay their wages via the licence fee.
More then that, there's been interviews where incorrect facts and statements haven't been challenged or questioned (Paul Fletcher interview comes to mind - and, to be fair, could the same be said for ACL's on-air interviews?). Also, why over the past year or so hasn't there been more effort by CT and CWR to get to the bottom of what the bloody heck is going on with our club? Is there a ban on investigative reporting in Coventry?
I swear I've read more facts and reliable info on SBT then I have read or heard from the local media. Even some of the national media (articles on the Daily Mail or Guardian websites) seem to be more clued up at times then media closer to home.
Our club needs to be sorted out. Perhaps our local media should perform the same self-examination.
