Just been told that today the Council removed the shirt and ribbons from Lady Godiva.

Personally I am not happy about this as this, am I alone or do others think she should have been in a shirt for longer?

Surely bigger things to worry about, a statue wearing a shirt is not going to bring the club back to the City.

I don't think she is supposed to have anything on at all, let alone a Cov top. Unless can come to an agreement with the council for her to have it on maybe!!!!

To be fair I nearly got arrested years ago just for climbing on it

Bloody Hooligans:D

Seriously though who were a shirt and ribbons hurting? What jobsworth/killjoy at the council ordered that to happen?

Pathetic.

I bet that if it was left there for too long there would be some on here moaning about "council bias / intervention" at leaving it there and demanding it be removed!

Tim Fisher... It's the only thing him and the council have agreed on in years

The council had to do it, think about the many, many tourists who expect to see a naked Godiva. God bless the council.

Ah, maybe it's just me being grumpy, but I don't want to see a football shirt on the Godiva statue either. Saturday as a temporary thing for the march is fair enough, but after that I don't see it as necessary or appropriate - imho.

Can't see any problem.

The statue was decorated, the point was made, now it's removed.

Seems all very sensible to me.

Bring D-Day forward to Thursday because of this. I'm appalled.

Agreed, I mean the whole point is that she doesn't wear any clothes. But then again... Those nasty ccfc hating council bastards!

I think it is appropriate we were preserving the modesty of Coventrys most famous Lady:)
