Many used to say Huckerby was lazy. He wasn't his job wasn't to chase backwards but purely to attack.

If he plays for CCFC and loses possession cheaply and stands and watches while the full back and winger both start a counter attack with his hands on his hips then people wouldn't be impressed with that. Of course people will lose possession, but if he had tracked back as hard as he could to pressure / break up their counter attack then at least he would have tried (even if they had scored).

That's not saying he didn't score good goals and played well offensively in some games. That's not standing up and booing him, it's just pointing it out. It happened a fair few times and we conceded at least once from it.

thats the thing. Thers a difference between pointing out a players deficiencies and actively booing them during a game. Theres a section of our support who have a pathological need to do the latter.

Well yeah, I wouldn't do that and don't even boo the players off if we are shit. I swear a lot under my breath though.

i think its just counter productive, especially to young players. i thought tudgay was awful last season but never booed or cheered ironically when he got subbed even though his performances were driving me mad.

I will admit to swearing when something like a promising attack stops because of a wayward pass or a shot hits the corner flag. But after the event I don't start shouting how shit someone is. I might comment to those I am with. But that is it.

Why would someone want to hit the confidence of a player when it is already low? Why would the player want to give 100% when the supporters are on his back?

No idea, I don't get why people would want to stand up and shout. I always notice they seem to not have a clue about football too.

How naive, if he wants to go he will be sold, no manager wants a player that does not want to be at the club

That's not expecting him to be a headless chicken or aimlessly running back, just if he lost the ball not to stand there and watch their counter attack develop with his hands on his head / hips and at least track back.

Perhaps he was told not to track back, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Mowbray wanted him to stay pushed up, leaving the defending to be done by others, then winning the ball back and we are on the attack again.

Nope. Impossible. You've got to be running full pelt 110% at all times including around the changing rooms at half time or Slaphead Dave won't like it.

He could well have, his body language didn't seem like it. However there was one stand out occasion he lost the ball, stood there with his hands in the air and they scored from the counter. Nobody is saying run at 100% at all time or run back every time to behind the full back. Just if you lose the ball from a bad touch, you are one of the quickest players on the pitch and you can see your full back outnumbered for a fast counter attack. At least put them under a bit of pressure.

Adam Armstrong sometimes ran further back if he lost the ball and even got a couple of goals from it.

Body language... Come on. It comes down to decision making again. He loses the ball, then there's a split decision he has to make. If low on confidence that decision making is then slightly delayed as he is 2nd guessing.

Should it even be a decision that needs to be thought about if he loses the ball due to a bad touch and there is then a counter attack leaving the rest of the team in a mess?

Again, I'm not saying he should play sweeper and in attack but just when something is down to him.

Leaving pace up front is a defensive move. Stops their players committing themselves too far up the pitch. Much better use of a pacy player than wearing him out chasing the fullback all game.

decent hat trick today, made mostly by his speed. have say keeper should have do e better on 2 of them, and the third was made by the guy from wolves ( who looked sharp, strong & had decent feet on him ( for the time he was on )

I know its been & gone & im glad for the squad we have , so don't shoot me down, but seeing Collins also scored a hat trick today... can you imagine him & jones in same team... in this league!!!!!

I thought he looked useful last week against Nuneaton and scored a terrific goal there but many on here slated him, fair play to the lad with his hat trick today. Mark Robins said in the after match interview that he was delighted but it would cost him 250 quid fine by the players for hugging the manager, not sure if that was a wind up or not but made me laugh...

Last season he was the youngest player in what was virtually an U23 team playing in a men's league
Today he was the only young player in a team of proper men who noticeably guided and helped him throughout the game
