Whats the deal with Tackling? I really fancy getting involved but am worried regarding going over on my Dodgy ankle

I’ve tried it, tbh tackling isn’t really an issue as you can only get to a challenge at walking speed. The biggest challenge is you have to play the ball to feet. Any pass into space tends to roll out of play as the walking player can’t get to it in time.

The other feature is that games/practice tend to descend into a “who can bend the rules best so that we’re still officially walking” like the farcical 20km and 50km race walks in the athletics.

But it’s good fun if you haven’t played properly for a while and want to exercise with a game approximating football.

it is much more knackering than i can ever remember proper football being
We have had a few muscular injuries - Tackling is minimal, more blocking
But yes there are some who like to break into a run

Play with SBitC twice a week up the Sphinx.

As Jimmy says it's fun, good laugh, socialising, cup o' tea and a biscuit too!

Tackling wise, depends if it's 'Affiliated to the FA' or not, SBitCommunity isn't but Bedworth United is, and bedorth is a lot stricter on the running and tackling.

Yes I play three times a week. With women and mixed. Has given me a new lease of life and I would recommend it to any over 50s.
Personally not keen on under 50s playing as they are physically quicker and much more robust which causes older players to rush and get injured.

Tackling, ahem, depends if you have a referee and how they apply the laws. Ideally there should be no contact at all. You are only allowed to front nick the ball. The referee should caution anyone endangering the safety of other players which includes any kind of reckless play. That includes blasting a shot straight into opponents. It rarely happens in reality and many older players start and have to stop because other players are too rough. I have personally witnessed several broken bones, torn ligaments, knee and ankle sprains and a dislocated shoulder. Most were avoidable if people had understood what they were meant to be doing. Many should be playing veterans or a gentler form of 5 a side but their competitive nature gets the better of them.

Well, either join a specific age group, say over 50s, over 60s etc or (not being funny) there are groups for people with "impairments" - recovering from long term injuries, Parkinson's, dementia etc.
If you'd like to give it a go there are fellas late 70s, over 80 still going.
