Sorry if this has been been posted elsewhere already, but our average attendances have been colalted for this season, for league games only:

2012/13 - 10948

2011/12 - (itself a relegation season) - 15118

So a drop by a third from an already low base - nobody should be surprised; if anything, I thought it would have been even lower - at least we managed over 10k average.

Pompey averaged 12k this season and Sheff U 18k...Preston 9k+, and MK 8.5K.

The more depressing trend is that it is yet another season where the average crowd has dropped vs the rpevious year. The two seasons before relegation were:
2010-2011: 16,310
2009-2010: 17,305

I am pretty sure that it has in fact been 5-6 years in a row where the average gate has dropped - I think we can all agree that it does not look good for next season breaking that trend :(

away from the ricoh, 5k
at the ricoh under SISU - less than 10k
at the ricoh under anyone else, a bit more than 10k

any success after this will bring more fans coming back...but i dont even remember "success", so that cant be realistic !

Away from the Ricoh I can see it being an average of 3,500 tops.
1500 season tickets + 1500 casuals + 500 ish away fans.
Guesses, of course, but seriously, how many will keep going "away" to home games through the winter?

It is a sign of very sad times - I remember going to the first home game of SISU's first season in charge, we got 22.6k v Norwich. They got relegated that season, how times have changed!

Lets see £5 a ticket for our 1st "home" game and the Bescott and see how many that pulls in.

I wouldnt go if it was free !
Walsall is 15 mins drive from my house but I wouldn't go if the current owners are still in place.

That was our best attendance, generally went down after that. 5k less for the next home game.

I do think the drop 2009/10 and 2010/11 only tells half the story though CJ.

Oh dear god...I did say I thought it went back 5-6 years in my OP, but that is an utterly shocking stat

just to make it clear, since 2006 ---a space of 7 short years - our season average gate for a home game has HALVED....that is shocking

Lots of reasons though, which is why the highfield road figures are useful. People's curiosity about the Ricoh and that includes bigger away attendances.

When you look at 2008/09 - Sisu's first season in charge, we had Westwood, Dann, fox, Gunnar, Henderson on loan. There was investment but crowd was well down on the previous season.

It does feel as though attendances were falling back to the norm prior to last season.

It is shocking but what is more astounding is that there are those that claim that the dramatic decrease has got nothing at all with the gross mismanagement of SISU and the way they have conducted themselves during their tenure.

Year after year without sucess leads to people losing intrest. When a football club is constantly shit like us then atendances will drop.

We build up some momentum then fuck things up in front of a big crowd eg. CREWE.

Now its all good the club saying we need the fans behind us. Arent relationships 2 way?

Shouldnt the club start giving back a decent season to the fans?

Im sick to death of us being shit!

I still go up tho. For some strange reason. And i never give anything other than encouragement on match day.

a 3,500 gate = a loss of £2.5m in lost gate money alone from last season = total suicide and the finish of CCFC

Interesting to see we got more watching at the Ricoh whilst getting relegated than mid table at Highfield Road.

I'm pretty convinced despite the bluster that the owners being sisu / a.n.other will in itself make little difference to crowds (assuming still being at the ricoh), compared with general success/feeling of optimism or not.

A bit surprised though at the extent of the drop this season - it's not as if your average championship game against burnley seems that much more of a crowd-puller than Scunthorpe or whoever, especially given overall a better prospect of winning this season.
