Last season he gave 110% of not much. Certainly did not act as a captain - mind you cant remember last time we had a real leader on the pitch

Time to get over this one, yes hes done well at MK and fair play to him, but seriously time to move on.

@ Glen - certainly was not a great captain, quiet as a fucking mouse when up against it away and went missing alot of the time, hence lost his form and dropped out the side.

same fans wanting him back are probably those that used to get on his back all the time. "oh noez how dare you attempt and dribble and not be successfull 100% of the time!"

i always liked him and sad to see him go, but on flip side hes in 30s now is he not? and not sure where he would fit in current team. just have to move on.

good as a player behind the front 2
good confidence player tracking forward
very poor defending and tracking back - giving away too many penalties and goals away

that said -attacked more in a game that the current midfield in a season

I like Baker, and wish him well, but lets be honest he is a better player in a better team, and a worse player in a worse team. Sums up the MK Dons and us currently.

Wouldn't make a blind bit of difference in this team with Pressley in charge. Jim O'Brien has played at a much higher level than Baker for the majority of his career and at the very least is as good as Baker if not better, yet despite the odd bit of individual brilliance he hasn't performed consistently under Pressley. Put O'Brien in that MK team and you get the same goal/assist return.

People really need to forget about Baker, its all a bit sad now.

I think with the decent reports/potential of the new signings I think it's time to move on about Baker and how good /bad he was for the team.

Whenever I saw him, yes he gave everything ,but the majority of time his final pass went astray or out ,and the attack was over. Also whenever he had time on the ball he would look embarressingly clumsy , and was very greedy at times to add to that.

Let's move on , Baker wages may well be paying for most of these new young signings

He has scored 5 in 17 at mkdons , basically a 12 goal a season midfielder, that lets be honest we could desperately do with one of them right now

Yeah O Brien is a better player than Baker.

If anything shows how low we have sunk it's the hero worship of a player who was an abject failure in the league we signed him to be competitive in.

I would agree that obrien is a more consistent performer for city , would of been nice to have both in the same side though

Who cares, fed up of threads like this and every week saying an ex-player just scored....they no longer play for us, they never really done anything ( with exception of wilson ) and don't care about us so who really gives a shit

Yes our goal scoring record has gone from strength to strength since he's gone. Thank god we replaced him with someone who has got loads of assists and scored a few along the way. That must be why we're promotion contenders.

How often was he in team of the week for us? He always said the right things but didn't deliver consistently. I do respect him for being a bit of a rebel in the camp, but I thought some of his social media postings followed by his deletions hastened his departure. His rebel rousing was naive at times.

Carl is 32 (26/12/82), and was and is head and shoulders above this current squad on a bad day !!

Ideal as Attacking Mid averaging 10 goals per season what a dumbo decision to let him go !!!

Imagine if he scores against us on the 28th. Some of our fans will probably celebrate.

I doubt it we have forgot how to, it's been a long time......

Anyway who wants to go to the Ricoh and watch a franchise team?

O'Brien has scored 15 league goals in his whole career. Baker has scored almost 90.

Has your account been hacked by someone trying to make you look foolish? Should I message Nick?

Bakers performances in L1 for us have been miles better than O'Briens for us, although difficult to say who is the better player as Baker was playing in a team that was playing decent under Robins and at the beginning of last season under Pressley whereas O'Brien has been part of an underperforming team. Saying that if I was offered a swap of Baker for O'Brien I'd take Baker at the moment without much hesitation.

All of his career in England has been in the championship. The place where Baker scored twice in over 80 games.

I think the official stats and clips below will tell you that Carl baker was our most consistent player by a mile and won all the official player of the year awards in 2014

'Baker has been arguably City’s stand-out player of the campaign which the official Football League stats confirm.
'Going into Saturday’s game with Leyton Orient the 30-year-old was Coventry’s player with the most shots (89) and consequently most shots on target (57) and most off (32); most assists (8); most crosses (128); most free kicks won (49) and most fouls conceded (59) proving his commitment to the cause and Coventry most consistent player'

CARL Baker looks on course to make a clean sweep of the player-of-the-year awards to back up a stattastic season.
The Coventry City skipper has already won the vote from the Coventry, London, South Wales and Irish supporters’ clubs and the Former Players’ Association.
He has to be hot favourite for the club’s official title, as voted for by the fans, at this Saturday’s official club presentation, (he won it by a landslide)

MOVE ON.

Both of them have appalling scoring records in the championship, yes Bakers is worse but when you are comparing 1 goal a season to 2 it's hardly relevant.
