Genting Casino Coventry Blaze can confirm the signing of Canadian forward Derek Campbell.
The 32-year-old was part of the Blaze team which won the Elite League title in the 2009/10 campaign, something he also achieved the following season with Sheffield Steelers.
Campbell, who has also played for Manchester Phoenix, Newcastle Vipers and Hull Stingrays, began this season with Sheffield Steeldogs in the English Premier League.
He recently rejoined Manchester before accepting an offer from Blaze coach Paul Thompson to return to the Rapid Solicitors Elite League.
Campbell will make his debut in next Saturday’s trip to Belfast Giants and his first home appearance comes against former club Stingrays at the Skydome the following night (5.15pm face-off).

Thompson said: “I have been looking for a guy who can create some offence for us and Soupy can do that. I also wanted a gritty left-winger with speed and he fits that bill.
“I made a mistake by not bringing him back last time. He had won a championship with us and went on to win a championship the next season in Sheffield and was a big reason why Hull Stingrays had their best season last year.
“I like Soupy as a person, I like what he brings to a team and he plays with an edge. I will be expecting him to produce offensively.
“I am really excited to have him back, it is a great opportunity for him and I know he is looking forward to coming back too.”

Decent signing,if not quite the same level as Matt Beleskey.;)Did a good job and was quite surprised when Thommo originally let him go.If as seems likely there is a deal in place, then it looks like ,'The Show' will be starting up in a couple weeks,so it will mean no return for Matt- 'the Mighty Duck'.

Can't see Matt coming back now. The NHL lockout has ended, the NHL season will start up again soon. I'm personally not sure on this signing. He's got bags of energy and can get some decent enough points, but I also remember him picking up silly penalties..

Since leaving us, he's played for Sheffield Steelers (and helped them win the league), Hull Stingrays before dropping down to the EPL where he played for Sheffield Steeldogs and as injury cover for the Manchester Phoenix.

One of my old Elite League favourites when he played for the Vipers, never really hit it off in his first spell at the Blaze. But I wish him all the luck with us in the future.

great signing love to hate him playing us but love him playing for us.

helps big benn and eggy out too, if you know what i mean ;-)

Don't think we need help they though. In the 38 games we've played, Brad Leeb with 18 goals is our highest goal scorer. 18 isn't bad, but think we could of done with a bit more power in that department.
