I don't think they deserved a win. They scored a freak goal and did nothing else. As a footballing team they weren't very good at all.
Sounds like sour grapes. Give us a bit of credit. We came to get a result and we got it.

Duck should have come on. Needed some magic.

Jones went bsck to making wrong decisions today. When hes not having much success he needs to pass more. Hes so reluctant all time. Got to byline in last min and didnt cross. Frustrating

Exactly when we need others to step up

Yes, well done. Your defense was excellent with lots of interceptions. However you had only one shot on target which most grannies could have saved. 0-0 would have been a fairer result.

Not really. I thought we were poor but you had one shot on target which 999 times out of 1,000 wouldn't have gone in.
You were set up ok as a unit but can't deserve a win based on that really.

Thanks, though a goal is a goal if it ends up in the back of the net so we'll take it. Look forward to a good game at our place later in the season when maybe we'll both be up there in the top 3.

It was a travesty that Nazon wasn't put on for Vincenti. He was abysmal. Andreu needs to start ahead of Beavon.

He wasn't abysmal. The oddity was not bringing him on for Willis instead of Biamou. He got that wrong.

Good luck to Newport for the rest of the season think they will be okay and might sneak the play offs, don't think they showed enough today to show they will challenge for automatic promotion. On to the next one, clearly a lot of improvement needed.

If we both play like that It'll be a mid table battle at best! You're right about your goal, if it goes in, that's all that matters.

Really naff performance. Robins got it wrong with his substitutions.
The fact he continued to push Vincenti out wide in the last ten minutes was stupid.

Incredible time wasting and 'bus parking' in the last 20. Almost felt like a cup game where you play United and the defenders fight for their lives.

but if your opponents double up on a player there should be space to exploit elsewhere.

The problem was that Grimmer was awful, which is really surprising as he played excellently in the other two games. Grimmer was often in forward positions to try and support Jones but he just couldn't find a blue shirt.

Didn't see the point in waiting until we were one nil down to make the change. Both of the first subs should have happened at half time, as both beavon and Kelly had bad days.

I don't think Beavon and McNulty works but why we were winning then fair enough but I think it's time to change it now.
For me they don't play as a partnership or create enough.

Take the positives. Robins can now make the necessary changes such as starting the Duck and Andreu, no longer under pressure to keep the team together.

We're crying out for a target man, Beavon can't do it and I have a feeling the same will apply to Biamou.

Team next week:
O'Brien
Grimmer
Willis
McDonald
Stokes
Kelly
Andreu
Doyle
Duck
McNulty
Jones

I agree, I like beavon, but McNulty is meant to be our main goal threat, but his qualities seem to be sacrificed as a number 10 think we need to get him up front with Andreau in behind.
I think Stevenson worked well alongside Doyle but i don't know if it is fair to replace Kelly yet

Poor game and poor performances all round from us. Had 0-0 written all over it if O'Brien hadn't made a huge mistake.

They squeezed the life out of us with a simple game plan. Pack the side with huge bastards and then get stuck in and hope the ref doesn't get a grip which as we're quickly establishing at this level they rarely do. Didn't help ourselves by not being able to do the basics. The passing was abysmal.

We didn't seem to be able to change it up to work around that, going to be a problem if Robins can't find a counter plan as we'll come up against that kind of setup regularly.

How on earth their keeper, and two or three others, didn't get booked for time wasting is a mystery to me. Everyone does it but they were royally taking the piss.

Think they'll be comfortably mid table but not sure I can see them mounting a serious challenge.

Bump. Welcome to league 2.

Poor game all round. Newport came with a plan to frustrate us and were time wasting from the off. We weren't able to deal with it and looked out of ideas. Too many late passes or back passes. Possession for possessions sake.

Definitely drop Beavon for Andreu. Beavon was very poor today and Our game picked up as soon as Andreu came on, he looks a step ahead of other players.

Defence still looked good and O'Brien commands his box so well. Howler for the goal though but they happen over the course of the season. More worried about who is going to score goals than conceding too many.

Overall a poor day at the office but I'm not going to worry yet. Yeovil is a big game now and will be a strong indication of how the character in the squad is.

Newport were poor, I'd hate to watch a team that sticks 10 men behind the ball and frustrates, so boring but I guess that's league two.

Finally, why do they let people on the phone in who've not been to the game. It's like me telling you how nice a meal is by looking at a picture of it.

Fair enough. You'll find nothing will be easy in this dogfight of a league. Anyway good luck for the rest of the season.

Your guys worked so hard for you today and we were toothless.

I thought it would be a tough game, but had us down to win.

We need to be smarter than this.

Good luck and what sort of magic powder did you sprinkle to get Frank Nouble tackling back and helping the defence out?

Good luck for the rest of the season and hope you have a safe trip back to Nuneaton.

What was happening at the end. I saw a few punches thrown outside the away end and as I crossed the pitch I could see some melee going on.
