disk drive (1 Viewer)

My disk drive ! (well at least that's wot i think its called )
is making a really funny noise every time i put a disk in!
This is causing it not to read a CD!
It sounds like it chewing sort of ! if that makes sense ?

MMMMMM how do i fix it ??????

Sounds dead, I'd call the manufacturer and ask what they think.
But it sounds to me like you need to replace it.

Might sound silly put open the tray and blow into the drive to remove any dust/particles etc. Is this on a laptop or a PC / desktop?

If you turn it upside down and have the base of it facing upwards, in the area where the CD/DVD drive is there should be a number of screws relating to that piece of hardware (3 or 4). If you unscrew them you should be able to slot the unit out and see if you can see any damage to it, and consequently replace it with a new drive. Is it a combo CD-RW / DVD drive, or just a CD writer?

I could have a look at it for you if you wanted to bring it to the Ricoh on Saturday?!

Omg i didnt understand any of that !! lol apart from the turn it upside down bit !!!
LOL , now wishing i had checked in on here b4 sat !!!!
dont think i should attempt to undo any screws lol , I am useless when it comes to anything to do with anything that dont look like a hoover or a kettle lol, do you know of anywhere or anybody i can take it to to get fixed , would rather that that try myself !!!

It's funny actually as I was talking to someone today about how the power supply on their laptop went and they needed it sorting asap, so he went down to a place called Laptop Clinic in Nuneaton who specialise in...laptops! lol. Dunno if Nuneaton is local enough for you to warrant going over to them, but I'm sure you could at least give them a ring or send them an e-mail and ask what they thought. The guy I was talking to recommended them for getting the job done!

Or failing that, if you were to come over Nuneaton way anyway, I could have a look! Or, when I'm back after my week "off" on Hols, I could have a look at it somewhere in Cov? (I realise this is weird again, coming from an "internet stranger" lol)
