Bloody everywhere at the minute! Saw them all at Ash Green School last night, taken over all of the school fields.

The Police and authorities should have more power or stop being scared sort it.

Least it will be a few days off for the kids while they clean the human shit up off the playing field.

Went realistically can the police do beyond what they do now? Then again, if it was land owned by a rich landowner they'd be there like a shot...

Check insurance on every car like they would do if it was a group of boy racers, check they are all road legal and start impounding them.

They are trespassing on private land. Pretty sure if I broke into somewhere and started having a shit on their garden the police would have something to say.

Christ, we had the police come once because we had hopped the fence into a school to play football on the field to tell us to get out as the security had alerted them.

If it was land owned by a local council member or the police commissioner they would soon be moved on, if they could pitch up at The Ricoh the day before our landlords play that would be good.

They should get a local farmer to spray muck all over their caravans so they know how it feels

Something similar to that happened near our village. Gypsies parked at a local beauty spot so the farmer who owned the adjacent field sprayed the field with muck and slurry. The gypsies were driven out by the stench.

The Police are shit scarred of them hence they do nothing. We had a problem when we lived in a village just outside of Bristol. It was left to the locals to sort out.

If they dont have car tax or insurance, you take their cars like they would with anybody else.

If they break things, you arrest them for criminal damage.

You have a carpark full of people in cars at Mcdonalds and the police are there checking every tyre for reasons to fine them / get to them but when a group of gypsies break in to a school and shit all over the place and break things they do nothing.

When you take their cars, work vans and things they will give a shit then rather than dilly dallying about.

I think that is part of the problem. They still don't care...they just 'disappear' so it is hard to make charges for any crime stick.
Maybe the answer is to erect a huge fence with security around them so they cannot get out until they have tidied up their mess...& then escort them to the correct facility for disposal of the mess. If it costs them money then so be it...they have to sell something on the spot to a negotiator from the authorities. So if their van is worth £2k they get £1k for it to pay dumping costs...authorities keep the van & sell it for £2k.
Its the only way to get money from them for the time & effort they command.
Of course Human Rights prevent anything of real value being done. The rest of us have no rights or protection from their lawlessness.
In fairness though there is little difference between the travellers & some of the families/individuals we all encounter in pretty much every town centre up & down the land. They are a lost cause.

Yes but if you take their cars and caravans they will start to care. Personally like you say I would lock them in so they can't get in or out.

They only don't care because they know the police won't do anything, I am sure they would if it actually inconvenienced them.

That's the point Nick. Take stuff off them and they'll go and rob what they need from someone else. Put them in Prison and they'll do the same when they come out most of them aren't bothered by the law. If any normal person gets a criminal record then it impacts on everything we do. It doesn't matter to them at all as it has no consequence when they get out.
Police harass them and they'll move on to somewhere else, get harassed and move again and so on.

It annoys me that their vehicles aren't taxed and insured. Surely you need a permanent address for tax and insurance purposes? This would be the first thing the police should be checking! Make them pay!

But they just walk away & steal another car. They are lawless...not beneath the law...the law (not the Police) doesn't know what to do with them other than protect their rights to do as they please it seems.

What annoys me most is the foul mess they leave behind.

I don't want to suggest that they're all criminals, I'm sure they're not. If they choose to live outside society and they can make their own way without pissing everyone else off then that's fair enough.

However it does seem as though they want to lead a 'traveller' lifestyle without contributing to the state, and simultaneously make demands upon it. Many are also condemning their kids, particularly their girls, to the same kind of lifestyle by denying them a proper education.

Fwiw my thoughts on it are that what you believe, and the life you choose to live is your choice, but you have to follow the law of the land regardless of your "culture" or be prepared to accept the consequences.

So I chose to be born & raised on a pretty deprived council estate? Or was I condemned to it like the traveller girls you mention?
Fact is - I & they probably feel at ease with the lifestyle we are condemned to rather than face the battle of choosing to live the life of Riley (see what I did there? )

Their is a field literally 5 minute walk from where I live that has just had a bunch of gipsies stop their, they are nothing but trouble and its us the taxpayer that suffers! Higher insurance, higher council tax and lower house prices all thanks to this bunch of morons!!

I was down by Cardinal Wiseman this morning and saw a large convoy of travelers with brand new motors/caravans drive on to the fields.I was told they're the ones kicked of Ash Green school,they've been on there before so they know the area well.
I'd like to know what's the difference between a gypsy and these travelers ? I heard Irish accents today from a group of them,but someone said gypsy's are Romany's.Baffles me to be honest but to me they're all like pigeons and seagulls,bloody hard to get rid of !

The local authority are supposed to have sites set aside for travellers, but they do not provide them, hence they rock up and are hard to get rid off as they have legal rights. They are classed as an ethnic minority and have rights given to them by the European courts.
The problem is that someone is always stuck with them as no one wants a council site anywhere near them. I believe there is a small site with toilets and showers at the bottom of Siskin Drive, but it is always rammed.
I feel sorry for them as no one wants them so they have a siege mentality and dont give a toss about people who don't give a toss about them. But hey, I don't want them near me either

Coun Abdul Khan asked about the possibility of pursuing travellers for costs of clean up through civil action. He says it’s not straightforward as they have no fixed address and move around the country.
Tory Coun Hammon is asking if they can fine “gypsies” on a basis of around £100 per caravan. He wants the council to approach Parliament about the issue.
Labour Coun Khan says Coventry is not the only city suffering and he’s sure other cities and MPs have raised the issue. He recommended that Coun Hammon contacts “his own government” about the issue.

Now we’re on to ‘Question Time’.
Coun Lapsa has submitted a question of fly-tipping. Apparently there were 2,105 fixed penalty notices issued and 209 people prosecuted for fly-tipping between Jan 2014 and June 2016.
Here’s the question and the answer.


Tory Coun Skinner says that the law in relation to travellers at the moment is “unsatisfactory”.
He suggests the present leaders of the council should take this up “it seems to me it’s the correct formal approach”.
Deputy leader Coun Khan says all elected councillors have a mandate to contact the government themselves.
Basically, you can take from his answers, Coun Khan is not going to take this issue up!

Those aren't real gypsies. Real gypsies travel in horse-drawn carriages, wear Bohemian looking clothes, dance around their campfires at night and give you a silver coin for luck. And they speak Romany, not English, or so I've been told.

Arrest them and keep atresting them, 5 times arrested then sterilise them. Sooner or later they'll either abide by the law or be wiped out.

Scum generally breeds scum, so I'd impose that on all society, but do gooders think everyone should have rights. Get tough on crime and criminal activity will lessen, but I guess I'm just a right wing bigot!
