Fair play to him bloody hero for sure and swiftly honoured and recognised.
Seems he's been rewarded too with Citizenship and a job with Le Pompiers .
There is a law both Common and Civil in France "Non assistance de personne en danger",a bit more than a good Samaritan requirement and punishable both financially or judicially .
I think there are limits though re your own safety/risk.
