Very positive reviews.

Grew up with James Bond so would love to go and see it.

Sky at the mo have a dedicated James Bond film channel, 007, where they are just showing back to back Bond movies.

Most of the Moore ones have dated very badly it has to be said. Think the best Bond is as follows:

1. Craig
2. Connery
3. Dalton
4. Brosnan
5. Moore
6. Lazenby

I'll wait to download it. Can't stand cinemas. Horrible claustophobic, expensive places!
Last film I saw at the cinema was Monkeys in the Fog with Sigourney Weaver - 1988

My missus calls me Victor. I can't understand why. I'm nothing like Victor Mature

Yes, but will wait for the hype to die down, then go and see it!

Bored of hearing the moaning about brands being used in the film though, irony being they're giving said drinks brands extra publicity by moaning about it.

Daniel Craig, fuck off !!!

Can't stand him, nowhere close to a James Bond !!

http://danielcraigisnotbond.com/index/

He is the nearest to the character created by Ian Fleming. Him and Dalton come the closest.

I think Craig makes a great Bond. Out with the jokey persona and in with the serious moody, angry maverick.

Think after this Skyfall film he will win over a lot of doubters.

Good story told by Roger Moore on Radio 5 Live this week actually.

Talking about The Man with Golden Gun and Hervé Villechaize, who was the guy with dwarfism and played Nick Nack and was also in the Fantasy Island tv series.

Anyway, Hervé had a real reputation with the ladies apparently and was always putting it about.

One day he was walking through a hotel lobby inbetween filming with Maud Adams, his co-star. Apparently he only came up to her waist.

He turned to Maud and said 'Tonight I am going to come up to your hotel room and make mad passionate love to you.'

To which Maud replied, 'If you do and I find out about it, I'm going to be very cross.'

Disagree.

Craig's more of a chav than the gentleman special agent...

Connery's always been the best Bond, especially as Fleming chose him himself :

http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Sean-Connery-Became-James-Bond&id=7092928

Craig makes good action movies and spy movies, but he simply's no James Bond.

My list of best Bonds would look like this :

Connery
Lazenby
Brosnan
Moore
Dalton

In the article linked here by you, this comment sums it up perfectly

With all due respect Sir Roger, you do yourself a grave injustice.

James Bond is suave and sophiticated, like you were, Sean Connory was or Pierce Brosnan was. He is not just another brash action hero as depicted by Daniel Craig.

Until Daniel Craig plays a Bond who tones down the 'All-American-GI-brash-action-hero' my vote goes to you.

Fleming didn't want Connery to play Bond at all.

He thought he was too "chavvy".

Lazenby second??

Fuck me.

"SIR SEAN CONNERY has attacked James Bond’s creator Ian Fleming as a snob because the author was “not that happy” at the working class Scot playing 007. It emerged recently that Fleming drew up a shortlist of seven actors for the part including Cary Grant and David Niven, but not Connery."

Exactly.

Fleming was not happy at all about Connery playing Bond. it was only later he accepted him as the character.

And Lazenby second? The guy couldn't even act properly.

The worst Bond by far in my book.

For me, Connery was the best bond by some way.
Second would be Moore.

David Niven also played James Bond - in the original Casino Royale.

I know I'm pretty much in my own with liking Lazenby.
But I thought he did quite well and should have been given a second chance.
That Bond movie is amongst my favourite ones, Thunderball being my no. 1 Bond movie.
Bond should be a gentleman like agent with a heart for the ladies and some subtle + black humour.

Craig's playing a muscle-packed cold-ass bastard kind of Bond, which just is not my cup of tea.

Well each and every to their own.

I think Craig is much more how Fleming saw Bond in many ways. Dark and mean and moody. Craig plays him in a similar vein to Dalton, who I thought was a good Bond too.

This is 2012 too you have to remember. A lot of it is to do with how modern audiences would perceive and accept James Bond now.

At the time I quite liked Roger Moore, but looking back now those films (Live and Let Die apart) just come across as incredibly cheesy and crass.

Think Skyfall will change many a mind about Daniel Craig in the role.

Was checking a few polls last night and a fair few still have Connery as the best with Craig in 2nd place.

I do think 'cold-hearted bastard' suits exactly the persona in this modern age. If they went for the old style Bond in this current age it would just come across as a lame Indiana Jones.

Well, I liked him at the time, but have been watching the films again on the dedicated 007 Bond channel on Sky and they do come across as very dated and Moore's outfits are just plain awful and there is also an incredible amount of cheese too.

Dated very badly in my opinion, whereas Connery's outings have held up pretty well on the whole.

I think Craig is the best bond. It seems like sacrilege to say but I think he's brilliant at it.

Craig
Connery
Brosnan (as an actor, shit films)
Dalton
Moore
Lazenby (opposite to Brosnan, shit actor good film)

Almost the same as me, cept you have Brosnan above Dalton.

The first Dalton Bond film is a bit of dud, but the 2nd is much better and I do think that he did make a very good Bond.

Saw it last night, if you like bond then you will love this. I don't really get bond. Just find it too much shooting, unrealistic stunts and the "humour" painfully cheesy but this was probably one of the best bonds I've seen.

Some of the one-liners are great and others just plain awful.

I do hate the 11 machine guns all firing and just trailing in his wake though as he escapes. I would much prefer if he beat the bad guys with intelligence and by thinking on his feet. Being cleverer than them and one step ahead. Dislike it so much more when it's 6 on to one and he beats them with ease.

Saw it last night.

Brilliant film. Perhaps slightly over hyped but still brilliant. Some funny moments, some classic Bond moments too. Plenty of storyline to this one and not the mindless violence as the 'only half a script Quantum of Solace'

It's a shame Craig is now 44 as he can't have too many Bonds left in him.

Saw it last night.

Think it starts to slow down a bit in the middle and I did sort of think "where is this going?" But after that it picks up and doesn't stop till it ends. Loved all the little nods to the past and the ending. Sounds silly I know, but you know that bit where the groundsman for the house is hiding? The first time you see him. I dunno why but I thought it would be Sean Connery lol. Thought that would of been pretty funny.

Ha! I seen it last night also! I was wondering why the cinema was so full it must have been you lot!!!

I thought it was very good, i am not a Bond fan but like DC as Bond. I thought it was a little cheesey in places (too much reference to previous films) but was done in good light!

Tad - I though Connery was going to be the groundskeeper too! :p:p
