Thankfully, he was able to walk on it, which means he probably hasn’t done serious damage to the ACL again. But, the way he went down you could tell he’s done something. Hopefully, it’s good news.

You can actually walk even if you've snapped your ACL so don't be deceived.

Seen it close he tried to turn back for the loose ball from his blocked cross lost his balance and studs caught in the turf his knee wobbled he was waving straight over does anyone know if it was the same knee ? I don’t think it’s gonna be a bad one but he struggled to run it off could be ligament strained fingers crossed.

Agree. He hasn’t looked anything like his old self since he got back. Hopefully this is not too serious. I did fear when he stayed down at first that we might have seen the last of him.

These things are not just standard 10 months out their more like 18+ months to regain mentality and get back to a players level give him time he will be fine.

It was the same knee
Won't know the extent till he's had a scan but the club are hoping for the best

Please can we write of JJ in a Coventry shirt this season. Allow him time to come back properly in a lan spell once fully fit at a L2 club. It’s gonna take him a long time to get confidence in his knee.

I hope for his sake it’s only a minor set back, cruel if it’s more serious.

Get in someone to do the job in January for me

injury might be nothing to do with previous one. lets not jump to conclusions. He could yet be vital for us

didn't look good to me at all as it happened right in front of me and looked like his knee buckled sideways

I saw he posted something on one of his socials (Insta or Snapchat) and it sounded quite defeated. Something about being tired of battling. Read into that what you will.

I said ACL as soon as he went, hopefully not as that could be his career.

When opposition players go running over shouting for a physio you can usually tell it is quite bad as well.

I hope it is good news but the way he twisted and went down it didn't seem too much different to the first time it happened :(

Just hope he wasn't being pushed too soon.

Also have to ask if we need to adjust our warmup routine? Biamou did his within a few minutes also.

That was my initial thought too, but then I when I saw our players ambling away towards the touchline for a drink and not remaining distressed around him, I assumed less serious. Worrying that if it wasn't serious that he couldn't then run it off and equally so that they've not published any news regarding the scan. Even a setback for a few weeks could mean we don't see him back to his best until much later in the season as he appeared miles from it so far in his few short outings.

Jones also tried to play on initially on Friday
The suspicion from the noise it made at the time is that it might be a cartilage injury
I believe he's having a scan and seeing a specialist today so guess we'll know more after that

Well it looked to be a issue within the knee, and from MR interview after the game he said “he felt a little crunch in his knee and that obviously spooked him a little bit because of what he has been through over the last 12 months, so I am hoping he is OK.

Suggests early signs are not great however severe that may or may not be.

I just don’t see the point in getting him back into the team so soon to the detriment of ccfc and his career potentially.

Get someone in who’s ready to go in January

I personally think it’s up to the players to be responsible for their own warm ups and stretches especially if coming off the bench.

These injuries are more bad luck I think than anything

It was strange, it was obvious that Jones wasn't going to be able to play on but all of our subs were sat on the bench still.

Then Bakayoko looked surprised to be coming on and jumped up and got ready as quick as he could.

The lad was desperate to try to play on Nick
He was hoping it was just a strain or a twist that he would recover from quickly but as soon as he tried running on it he couldn't support his weight
He's been having treatment over the weekend but I suspect he'll be out for a while whatever is found on the scan

Yes it was strange not to see much movement off the bench and down the line at that point.

I felt it was bizarre how he wasn’t taken off straight away given the history, me personally I’d of taken him off as a precaution straight away.

He was never gonna be confident or in the right mind to “run it off” and this to me put him back further mentally initially from what we know about the extent of this set back.

I know but I am no physio or expert but could tell he wasn't going to be able to as soon as he hit the floor. Why was there even any attempt to run it off? Imagine if he had twisted or been on the end of a tackle and it completely snapped something :(

Hopefully the scan results will say it isn't as bad as it looked.

When he went down my first guess was not so much a reoccurrence of his injury but that he felt something in the same knee and naturally panicked assuming there goes another year. I hope it's all just extra precaution and it's a minor thing.

Apparently he told the medical staff the pain was nowhere near as bad as when he did his ACL
I remember Stuart Pearce trying to 'run it off' when he broke his leg playing for West Ham

Guess it can have different levels of pain though.

Andreu tried to run his off and walked off, others get taken off on stretchers.

I did my knee in (never really found out exactly what apart from cartilage as I couldn't get in for a scan) and tried to play on. Didn't really feel any pain at the time, I could walk with a limp back to get changed but any movement either way with a slight twist and I was on the deck.

We never seem to get much luck with injuries, do we? How many defenders did we get through that season when Ben Turner came back here? Hopefully Jodi's isn't as bad as it seemed, but the way our luck usually pans out with these things it probably will be.

On a side note, my mum did her knee ligament over 2 years ago, and they wouldn't even operate. So she's never walked without crutches or her wheelchair since, except round the house where there are things to support her if she falls. As she was at a friend's house when it happened, she couldn't even get up the stairs for the first 6 months. It really hit her mental health hard.

There's definitely something going on with the modern game that was not happening previously.
I don't remember all these injuries happening back in the 60's and 70's.
And back then the game was more physical and the pitches much worse.

I think its the pace. Lighter footwear and running miles on pitches that allow you to do so. They're pretty much athletes now, running right on the curve of injury at every time they step out. Challlenges were harder and heavy boots, but I think most injuries seem to come now when running at pace, being agile and turning quickly.

Talking about injured players walking off the pitch, who remembers Ricardo Fuller whilst playing for Preston at Highfield Road jumping off his stretcher and going after some Coventry fans near the tunnel. We all thought he had feigned injury to get out of a booking and then found out later he had knackered his knee and was out of football for months
