Leon Clarke - Swindon after him (1 Viewer)

looks like papertalk given the volume of players they have been linked with, i suppose it depends on how he feels he was treated by the club (never mind PDc) after that event. He will be difficult to keep hold of for sure!

Aren't Swindon in severe financial difficulty as well, haven't they had to sell half their squad since the turn of the year?

Club Statement:

We have unfortunately been forced to accept an undisclosed bid for Leon Clarke. The reason for this is that season ticket sales are much lower than expected, and under FFP regulations we would have had to sell all high earning players sooner rather than later. We would urge all
true sky blue fans to purchase season tickets to support your team. At the moment we have sold 83 season tickets - if we could sell just another 83 then we would be in a much healthier position and would be more able to keep more of our star players.

Had to check on the club website, hard to tell which statements are people taking the piss and which are genuine these days!

followed by a Fans statement.

We recognise the need to support our club with the sale of season tickets and will happily purchase once we return to the Ricoh.

The Statement should read:

We are delighted to announce that we've accepted an undisclosed bid (you've got no right to know how much) for Leon Clarke. The reason for this is that we are in a very sticky situation having wrongly assumed that our fans were gullible enough to purchase season tickets for 'home' matches in Northampton. Yes, it does mean that the football team will be weakened further but that isn't and never has been a prime concern to us. In the short term the sale will ease the pressure on our finances albeit marginally. We will now attempt to shift the blame to you, by suggesting that you can't really be true fans if you don't buy into the bullshit that we spout. Having set this precedent his strategy is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.

Virtually all transfers these days are 'undisclosed', nothing particular sinister from sisu's in that respect.

BE a good move for Clarke. Not so good for us though.

Swindon have heard of NOPM, that's why they are hoping to get him on a free. SISU will give him away to get the wage bill down.
