Daniel sturridge. Played 3 years for our youth team apparantly and we got a fee from him.

Champions league. 2 x Fa Cups, and Premier league.
England caps
When it comes from youth team players.

He was one of the best 15yos in the country at the time. We profited well when he moved to Chelsea I think

There was another who left to Bolton not long after but his career didn’t reach the same heights.

Got to be Denis Mortimer.

Hendo doesn’t really count as he was on loan.
Joe Cole won his stuff before City.
Madison & Callum Wilson still in Prem & around England squad but unlikely to win big now.
Larry was shit for us.

Ismt this thread about players who left us to become very successfull?

The likes of Strachan , McAllister were already successful before they joined us.

Easily Henderson. Has been massive for Liverpool winning the league and Europe.

Similar with England albeit without the trophies.

Looking at Whelan and Huckerby’s career, Coventry was as good as it got for them after their big moves. Both were in the Championship a couple of years later

Robbie Keane went on to play for some big clubs after us.....Inter, Leeds, Liverpool, Spurs & Celtic.......

He didn't win many trophies but hes right up there in the top echelon of international strikers.....146 caps, 68 goals......thats impressive.
Same with Craig Bellamy. Didnt win alot, but played for some top teams in top flight for a long time.

Could make a case for Cobi Jones under the same criteria.

Must be Robert Jarni.
Left us for Real Madrid, played for 2 different countries then into management. A stellar career.
World Cup 3rd place 1998.
Just need to clarify the OP title - an ex-player, or a someone who played for us!

You are joking right?

The only team he played for of any note was us.

His strike rate is shite & 10 of his paltry tally of 15 goals were in friendlies.

.....but apart from that.....yeah.....you could (try) and make a case for Cobi jones.

Dennis Mortimer was a Coventry City apprentice, first team regular for years, left for Villa, won a league cup, league title and the european cup and despite not being capped was a brilliant midfielder. He is my choice.
100% Correct on that assessment. Brilliant player. Would/Should have played for England but for the obsession with Colin Bell

Les sealy, after leaving us he won the FA cup, couple of Charity Shields and a European Cup. He also played in FA cup finals and league cup finals .

After us played for Man Utd, Villa an West ham aswell as being part of a really good Luton side.

Agree with all of that, and would add that Denis wasn't just a great player - he captained that Villa side to the league title and the European Cup.
Jordan Henderson has done the same and more, but doesn't really count as he only played a small number of games for us as a loanee.

He burnt out fast. Was training with RCD Mallorca in the summer and they didn´t want him. Now in Australia at Perth Glory. Think he is only about 31.

Some great players mentioned, but i was considering achievements including management, coach, punditry etc after hanging up the boots.
Obviously the footballing side is clearly important

Loans dont count😂

Why don't they ? Only Fernando said they didn't. The original poster just said ex-player. Henderson did play for us so should count.
