Burge - 4 - Had 1 thing to do, messed it up.
Grimmer - 5 - Put some crosses in and did try and get up the wing a bit.
McDonald - 5 - A bit shaky today, not too much to do though
Willis - 5 - As above
Stokes - 5 - Doesnt really offer much going forward, not much to do
Doyle - 5 - Its doing my head in how he has our quarter back, it is as if every play needs to go through him. If he is going to sit deep and try that then let Kelly push on.
Kelly - 5 - He did his usual today of doing what he needs to do, breaking down play and some good passes while going unnoticed
Jones - 5 - Awful decision making, too greedy
McNulty - 5 - Cant really make my mind up, he was also making runs into space while not really doing anything. A bit like a poor mans Beavon.
Biamou - 5 - Even though he missed the 2 headers, he was part of setting up our other good chances and we looked less threatening when he went off as we were more direct.
Duck - 5 - As per Jones, absolutely awful touch tonight and wanted to score a worldie rather than a simple pass

Ponticelli - 5 - He was running, making space, holding back and then making runs but nobody tried to pick him out. I thought it was too late really to bring him on and would have brought him on for Nazon as we went more direct and he didn't have a chance.
Shipley - NA - Didnt do much at all, strange change to bring him on

Robins - 0 - Looked lost stood there with his hands in his pockets. Knew full well they would park the bus but defended from the off, even at 70 minutes at 1-0 down he had Kelly and Doyle sitting way too deep. Waited far too long with his subs and had Vincenti out warming up for the last 10 - 15 minutes while we chased the game.

The fact that Doyle plays the quarterback role somes it up for me. He couldn't do it 10 years ago and I guarantee that wasn't his role for Portsmouth. Break up play, niggle, hassle, pass it off to the creative players let them do the work. If we're relying on Doyle being our Kevin de brunyne, we might as well just go home now

That's the thing, when he gets it you can guarantee 8 / 10 times it will go to the full back. Kelly is usually too close to him to do anything and then the attackers usually have 3 or 4 players between them and Doyle so it means it has to be a De Bruyne quality pass to thread them through.

All Accrington game he got played in that John fleck role. Tbf to him there was nothing on at all but jeez we can't rely on Doyle to play that. That's like relying on Kelly Evans to win the flick on at the near post. Kelly is the man from what I've seen. Let him dictate. Stevenson was supposed to be the class ball player, what the hells happened to him? This team needs Ryan Haynes more than ever now, he's the only one other than jones who will get the ball and actually run with it

McDonald is ok but there is a dearth of talent beyond that. Burge is just an accident waiting to happen and Biamou is gash ! I feel for people expected to return all winter to watch that offering.

Have to agree with your comments, although I think youve been a bit generous with the marks.

You know it's bad when we're clamouring for Haynes to be played!

Grimmer, Doyle, Nazon and Jones? I guess passing isn't high on your list of attributes for a footballer?!

Yeah this. Thought Grimmer was a 7 , Doyle, Nazon,Jones and Rodney Mac 6.
Burge had nothing to do all game but conceded a goal so 3 for him and McNulty aswell. The rest get 5.

I'd watch a re run of it if you couldn't see who was making things happen. I'm not saying they were world beaters but still shone out from the other dross.

Making things happen isn't shoot as soon as they get it, from wherever they were. Consistently took the wrong option.

They rarely had options and therein lies the problems.

Yes they did. There was one where Duck tried to shoot from a stupidly tight angle rather than hammer it across the box like most players would. he fluffed it.

There was multiple times they had better options but chose to shoot, even after Ponticelli came on and was making good runs.

Burge 2 terrible for the goal he can’t say it was to distribute the ball quickly as he never does and kicking is still woeful, best thing he did all night was hold his head at the end and I was shocked he didn’t drop that
Grimmer 5 ok but gets caught out of position to often
Stokes 4 looks a different player than last year
Macdonald 5 not his best night but little to do
Willis 5 little to do
Doyle 5 too deep and passes it sideways to often
Kelly 3 is always there for Doyle and that’s part of the problem a cheap nothing pass is always there looks half a stone overweight
Jones 4 predictable always comes inside and teams are wise to it
McNulty 1 put his boots on the right feet but that was it another non scoring striker
Nazon 4 needs to learn to pass and seems a bit brainless
Biamou 2 won a lot in the air but it never goes to our player in front of goal has Beavon been coaching him

Ponticelli 4 we are expecting too much but does always look forward when he gets the ball
Shipley 3 ok

Robins 2 needs to make changes earlier I would have been tempted to take off Biamou and Kelly after thirty minutes.

Ref 0 the reason I am falling out of love with the game constantly stopping play and the law makers need to look af better punishment for goalkeepers time wasting than a booking.

Burge 1 Beyond totally incompetent dithering fool. Bring back Obrian immediately.

Stokes 4 , Going forward clueless, slows up play, cannot pass, even his throw ins are excruciating to watch.

Rod 5 Not at his best but won most his headers. Decent.

Willis 5 , Was ok Rod took a booking for the team from an awful pass from him.

Grimmer 6 , was probably one of the better , lots of energy.

Doyle 5, Fifty fifty game, the booking in first half took his edge away.

Kelly 5 - Was good first half , looked jaded second half, still doesn’t get up to support strikers.

Nazon 6- First half was really good neat touches and distribution, but again faded badly in Second half.

Biamou 3 - Had his fair chance. Needs a rest.

McNulty 4 - played out of position, didn’t link up play or offer anything.

Robins 3- Too many late substitutions. Vincenti or Beavon should definitely have come on for the duke.

Ball boys -1 , who trains these kids, Simple instruction required when losing get ball back quickly , ie run.

Referee 1, Another clueless clown.

Burge - 3 - I know it was only one mistake. But he has to get a low mark because it was so awful. School boy error, quite literally.
Grimmer - 7 - Played well tonight and in the last game. Always 100% effort.
McDonald - 6 - Agree with Nick - a bit shaky today
Willis - 6 - ok
Stokes - 5 - Seems to have lost a lot of pace since his injury. He's gone from being our best defender to the worst.
Doyle - 7 - The only player who tries to dictate play. Yes, he has limitations but he gives 100%.
Kelly - 6 - ok - needs to do more in the attacking third
Jones - 7 - Always looks to be our best player but unfortunately that also means he has a tendency to be selfish.
McNulty - 3 - Complete garbage. Looks unfit. He hardly ever wins the ball, despite chasing everything. Offers no attacking threat whatsoever.
Biamou - 4 - Is starting to get into good positions but he is just hopeless. Doesn't create anything and wastes all the opportunities that others provide for him.
Duck - 7 - Ditto Jones. Less effective than normal, but still looks to be our main threat upfront.

Ponticelli - NA - Not on long enough. Needs to start the next game upfront with Le Canard.

Robins - 2 - Seems to know that this attack is not good enough but the budget is now spent so he has to make do with what he's got.

Burge error apart were solid enough they never threatened at all. We had no flow not helped by time wasting, crap referee, zero creativity, strikers who dont know where the goal is and very poor all round decision making.

Individually and collectively too safe or the wrong pass, it's awful to watch every week - how we're 8th is beyond belief, but shows how awful the rest of the teams are as every time I come away thinking 2 dreadful teams and a rubbish game of football.

Hardly surprising we're among the lowest scorers in the league.

Today’s performance or lack of Was exactly the same as the Newport Game, We were worse against Newport trust me, in that whole match we couldn’t string two passes together not from anyone.

It just goes to show players /teams at this level will have days like this where everyone looked crap. All teams , look at the top three teams last year in league 2 all lost more than 11 games.

It’s this level we are at. Get used to it quick. Reality check.

Newport was the first time this season we'd come up against a team who defended deep from the edge of their own area. Since then we've also had Yeovil, Chesterfield, Barnet, Accrington Forest Green where the run of the games have almost been identical. It's half our games this season now where we've just done the same thing over and over again and expected different results - the very definition of insanity. Do you still think that Robins has been a step ahead of opposing managers?

Burge - 2 - He's a crap keeper. Simple really.
Grimmer, Willis, McDonald - 6
Stokes - 4 - has HAS happened to him?
Doyle, Kelly - 6
Jones, Biamou - 6
McNulty - 3 - Spent more time doing up his shoelaces
Nazon - 4 - Poor game by his standards

Pont, Shipley - 5

Robins - 3 - Needs to know when to change things. Also, needs to have a different formation as this one isn't working.

Burge - 3 Inspired no confidence in our defence. Too quiet. Terrible mistake and awful distribution. Letting RCC go looks hasty now.
Grimmer - 5 Got forward well but guilty of poor decision making on occasions
Willis - 5 Largely untested but did what he needed to well enough
McDonald - 5 As Willis. Wins headers when defending so it's strange that he offers little threat when we attack with set pieces.
Stokes - 4 Defensively fine but struggles with the attacking side of the game. Unbalancing the team going forward.
Jones - 4 Far too predictable cutting inside every time. End product was wasteful too.
Doyle - 5 Robins demanding too much from a player who should just be in the team to try and break up play. Denied a goal by a great save.
Kelly - 4 As usual sitting too deep alongside Doyle. Not creative enough.
Nazon - 5 Wanted a goal to a fault. Far too greedy. Poor decision making but still looked most likely to score.
McNulty - 1 Just awful. Spent most of his time tying his boot laces up when we were attacking. Offered literally nothing. Might as well have been playing with 10 men. Why he wasn't substituted at half time I do not know.
Biamou - 4 Got in some brilliant positions to create some real threat and chances. The elephant in the room is his finishing though which is rubbish. An even slightly better player finisher would've got at least a brace.

Shipley - 5 Offered more than Stokes
Ponticelli - 5 Had one of the two best efforts in the game. Very unlucky not to score. Showed endeavour and desire when he came on even if it was to minimal effect.

Robins was again poor tactically. Gained nothing by starting with three misfiring strikers (I include Nazon - he's hardly a goal machine). Starting with Ponticelli instead of any of the three was no risk against a team that had been shipping goals for fun. Never changed the style of play either even when it clearly wasn't working. When you've got players like Vincenti on the bench who could really change the dynamic of the game he should've been introduced. Substitutions made far too late again too. Has to take a big share of the blame for the result.

Biggest disappointment last night was the front 4 apart from the blunder for their goal which was a combination of Kelly and Burge fault the back 7 did their jobs acceptably the front 4 how ever just cannot click and when they don’t score the confidence drains all the way back to Burge in goal!!

Nazon and Jones have gone from our biggest threat to predictable inconsistent bad decision makers, which doesn’t help the other 2 players,

Mcnulty however was awful last night Max was better but has to take his chances !

Totally agree with that and would love to ask him what it is. He even pushed Doyle up yesterday instead of Kelly after the break, his decisions are mystifying. He needs to be brave now and press the reset button, admit it's not working and go back to the drawing board. I'll be straight off his back on Saturday if he picks a revised team/shape as he'll have showed he's recognised it and trying at least to fix it, even if we lose again.

It seems to be to hope we can score a shot from long distance and then keep it tight for the win.
Cold light of the day is we are still 8th.

Theres one stand out team, and money talks.

We wont be outplayed by anyone.

Are we gonna lose more games like this yes probably, but like i said we are 8th, the results yesterday were crazy all around league two. Big opportunity missed.

Thats whats frustrating.

Whys it so hard to get this result out our system, this result hurts more than any from last season.

Truly feels like a low point.

Agree with all but Doyle, think he's terrible & had he not had his previous stint at City would be slaughtered. Other three I agree with and would add McDonald in as you mentioned. I find it unbelievable that there are people slating Nazon & Jones then saying Biamou has done okay, genuinely staggered. Having said that booing him as he was subbed yesterday is nothing short of disgraceful.
