Statement from Cov Rugby (4 Viewers)

"One of the several options at the study stage is having the Sky Blues as tenants here. We have stated in writing that there would be a number of conditions to this, designed to protect Coventry Rugby’s interests, before it could be realised:- any costs associated with the project would not be borne by CRL or BPAL; the issue of primacy of tenancy would have to be resolved to our satisfaction; the pitch would have to meet all requirements of the RFU, the RL and ourselves; CRL would retain control and ownership of the site through BPAL; we prefer a stadium of not more than 12,000 capacity. Also, as I have already stated elsewhere, we will not deal with SISU.

Those are tough obstacles to be overcome but if they were, it would result in a top-class City Centre sporting venue serving multiple sports and community use"

Most importantly... "Also, as I have already stated elsewhere, we will not deal with SISU."
So Tim's words on Monday prove as hollow as ever.

Things are coming to a head I feel with regards to where we play after next season. They won't deal with the club until SISU go and there's no sign of that. That leaves SISU to either end legal stuff with JR2 (not that I necessarily agree with that...) or Wasps won't negotiate with us.

It now looks like unless SISU stop the legals or sell up to someone else, we'll be looking for somewhere else to play in 2018/19, which is likely to be outside Coventry.

Unfortunately, I cannot see either of those happening so I feel another nail has just been hammered into the coffin.

A totally fair statement from the man to be fair.

The artificial pitch would get around the problem of the current mess we play on, although having to shell out for a job lot of astroturf trainers would be our biggest transfer window in years.

even if he says 12,000 is only a 'preference'; it seems pretty clear that the size would get nowhere near the 25,000 most on here (including me)would want

Astroturf, it'll be skins or shirts next!

I remember the old classic answer given by (Garth Crooks if memory serves me well) wh asked did he prefer grass or astroturf he said he'd never smiked astroturf!!

I await with baited breath to be told, that SISU and CCFC are different entities.
To be fair to him he has always been straight on all of these matters in every statement he makes.
He always said he wouldn't deal with SISU.
He always said anything bigger than 12k is too big for the rugby club and what the rugby club wants takes precedence.
He always said nothing would happen unless all sides are talking.

Out of interest what standard of football allows artificial pitches?
Sounds like the Butts should be the place for our academy and training.

He is dealing with CCFC though !!

Ah posted whilst I was posting.
CCFC are not ran by SISU everyone, remember that and we will all be ok.

1, Does he count Fisher as CCFC or SISU? To me most probably CCFC or he wouldn't have bothered talking to CCC about it or release a statement saying happy to work with CCFC at this present moment.

2, How would it be paid for without input from SISU?

3, Why would SISU invest in any form into something that they would never own?

4, 12,000 max? Blows Fishers bullshit out of the water about extending up to 25,000.

To me it is a great location for us as supporters for a stadium. But I can't think of anything else good about it. And that statement tells us all we need to know. Either Fisher is bullshitting about the size of any stadium or Fisher is bullshitting about wanting a stadium there and having to pay for it when they won't own it.

Pretty much anything I think, so long as it's the approved type. That stadium in Moscow with the artificial pitch has had international and Champions League football played on it, although they swapped it for grass when the CL final was there so might do the same for the World Cup final next year

Think you can read it either way you want. If it was a non-starter it would be a short statement saying Fisher is full of BS and there's no chance of it happening. What he actually says is that a groundshare with CCFC is one of the options under consideration but there are, quite rightly, conditions from CRFC's side to ensure they don't get screwed over.

At this stage I wouldn't get too hung up on the 12K. Sharp has commented before about an initial capacity in that region but able to rise should CCFC rise up the leagues. From what he said then it was a case off building one stand at a time so at a guess you'd start with a 3 sided ground like Bournemouth then add in the 4th side and finally replace the existing stand.

1. Clearly he seperates them as can be seen
2. What difference does it make to you. He is not got to tell you is he? Did he consult you when he bought the headlease?
3. It says no dealings with SISU so that is out
4. 12000 max is their preferred in the absence of any other requirement

Fisher simply said there are investors for the stadium - he did not say who
