Steward raised fist at supporter at end.... (1 Viewer)

Did anyone else on here see that ? Those in the immediate vicinity did and asked her what the hell she was doing ? Happened as hundreds were clambering over the hoardings between blocks 20 and 21 in the gangway. She lost it, clenched her fist and pulled her arm back ready to hit a supporter. 3 or 4 supporters including me told her to back off , and that she couldn't do that . She was angry, raising her voice and extremely upset .
I didn't see what had led to it, and no other steward appeared to stop anyone else getting onto the pitch where I was . It all passed off peacefully as far as I could see but this event tarnished it somewhat.

stewards probably scared in their defence
Perhaps, but clearly there was a risk of a pitch invasion which they should have expected. Not the way I really expect them to react. Not with a fist.

I saw a fan get arrested at the front for trying to join the hundreds already on the pitch which I though was disgusting .
I genuinely couldn't believe that they were so heavy handed with some of the fans for trying getting on , and it was only in singers corner .

I would normally defend stewards but in this case I just can't

few on FB also complaining about the Police as shown in this video. In all fairness they should of stood back and formed a line to stop any one getting to the Wycombe fans, which I don't really think there was any danger of.

Doesn't beat the ones against sheffield united who thought they were in the UFC trying to kick the fans walking on and missing.

While I didn't condone that pitch invasion the stewards were shocking.

This is not a defence of the individual stewards mentioned here. I was v early at the ground...in fact a few mins before the gates opened. I was surprised to see a group of 15 or so stewards being escorted to the gates and being given instructions on what and how to searchfans. A few "dropped off" at each set of turnstiles. I asked one of the guys if this was his first time as a steward and he said it was. I wonder how many of those last night had v limited experience of dealing with crowds.

Yes in front of me in block 15, one fan was pinned to the ground and then dragged out of the stadium as 1000s of others streamed on.

The head steward/supervisor eventually saw some sense and called off the orange goons and then they let everyone on.

The old boy when we went in looked like he had been on the beers all day and was openly saying that queue wasn't being searched.

Interesting as I given a full pat down search including under my hat, round my coat collar etc. Wife not searched, son not searched but his small bag was.

Yeah, it seems some were and some weren't.

No idea why the bloke was saying how they weren't searching there, surely goes against the point of it as if you had anything you would just go there.

Never personally had an issue with stewards but you can tell some of them are bellends.

Yep-the same steward against Sheffield Utd was clenching his fist/snarling and frothing at the mouth-you can see him as he is in a green bib and another in an orange bin in the vids from last night pinning a young lad to the ground before taking the lad out-very OTT. I guess he has to justify his minimum wage now and again!I'm thinking of writing to the club about that individual as it's not the first time I've seen him in action being a cockroach. Will probably get the standard "people shouldn't be running on the pitch" line.

I reckon if I had run on last night I'd be the one to be rugby tackled by an old woman and fall flat on my arse live on sky.

Yes in that video you can clearly see the supporter I was talking about. Was pretty bad taste from the stewards and police.

Luckily the cov fans were so happy that they didn't really retaliate.

Police should have got all the stewards out of the way it isnt a stewards job get in the way of fans running onto the pitch.

I know this because I stewarded for Shef United and Wednesday, Rotherham and Chesterfield in my first two years at uni. If the police wanted to stop people getting on they should have stood in front themselves rather than behind a barricade of stewards who arent built for crowd control. If I was in their position I would have stepped aside and done absolutely nothing to stop anyone. The only people in danger were the stewards as thousands streamed past them

One of the stewards did go flying.

Although what happens if a steward swings or something and they end up getting a whack back?

I don't get the half arsed attempts, you are either trying to stop them are you aren't. If you aren't then why bother.
