It won't take a lot to give robins more budget, the question is how much more?

Who said he shouldn’t increase revenue?

I want what I wanted under Sisu: a plan.

So far it seems to be “hope for a miracle while reducing losses”. Which was the Sisu plan.

The fact is King isn’t saying he’s doing it to cut losses, he’s saying he’s doing it so the squad can be competitive. In which case he needs to produce a competitive squad.
It's June 21st

Fucking hell

To the best of my knowledge King won’t decide who we buy, or what wage structure we have …. That’s for Austin and Robins. King will decide what playing budget they gave to operate with and what % of incoming transfer fees are reinvested in the squad.

Today we have been linked with a few low profile signings and already fans are blaming King for that.

Until we see the window close we won’t be able to judge whether the window has been a positive one or not but I fully expect to see a real mixture of signings:

a few loans
2-3 free transfers
2-3 lower league players with potential
3-4 proven championship players
1-2 foreign signings

IF that is the case we will feel underwhelmed at times, but until we see them play we won’t know.

Yeah - who got really excited about Vik and Gus when we first signed them. Guessing it wouldn't be hard to look back and find a lot of 'underwhelmed'

Christ the bloody bedwetting on here. Wait until the window closes. End of debate.

This isn't your first rodeo, you should know what to expect. Post/pre season is all about panicking & complaining about signings (or lack of).

It's the next stage I'm already looking forward to. Where the usual suspects write off a player after a few games. It gets brought up in every thread and argument. Finally after 18 months of back and forth, they are "glad to be proved wrong".

A d King has given several interviews. Which is what I’m commenting on: rhetoric.

Obviously all that matters is where we are next May, but Nicks got kids to feed man, can’t go quiet until then.
Just no need to panic. Got to be patient

Again, no panic. Well see where we are. Just saying King isn’t particularly inspiring so far. And when you’re asking for more money a bit of inspiration goes a long way.

It’s one reason why I’d get Hamer signed up. That alone would cause massive buzz around the club.

If noises are to be heard we’re not willing to pay one of the best midfielders in the league 20k a week, which top players would expect from a side looking to be a top 6 club

there’s also the hints that we will be more active in the loan market - despite Doug saying we need our own players not loans earlier on in the year.

we may just be doom mongering but I’m sceptical about doug starting from his motives buying us
That's all speculation at the moment though isn't it. We have no evidence of what Hamer has or hasn't been offered. We have no evidence of what signings, loans or otherwise we are going to make. It's early days.

Unrealistic to expect us to buy 3 players by now just to show king means business?

Sure lots of work going on behind scenes that we don't know about before multiple deals can be made official

I'm actually encouraged by the fact we haven't splurged cash on the first players to swan past the door. It would be easy for King to do, sign a bit of a "name", probably a player in his 30s and on the downward spiral. The more cautious approach suggests he's leaving it to Robin's and Austin to identify actual talent that improves the team.

Either that or Doug's skint and we're all fucked, qué Sera!

He said both those things in the same interview earlier this week. I let it slide as I didn't want to be negative, but he did seem to directly contradict himself.

What I like about the title of this thread is the positive optimism "Transfer Targets.". In reality it seems more rumour, speculation and wishful thinking.

Early days I know and with some targets you may have to play the long game. I also know most players are still on holiday.

But considering the lack of CB's, I am suprised we haven't seen one come in already? Even if it was an experienced player as squad filler or even a promising League 2 player as squad filler?

Considering we need about 15 players, I thought we might have had two or three ducks lined up in a row not just the one (who I think is a good signing). I wasn't expecting wow signings just some astute squad signings early doors, out of contract or nominal fee.

Exactly, with some of the u23s being released, we'd need some development players too that can bridge the gap, as Tavares amd Rus were when we brought them in. Just been all Gyok bollocks

Dele Alli

“However, one reckoned Alli was making a play to join Championship side Coventry... “

I wish we banned any linking to that sh*t rag.

As for Alli, there's no seriousness to it but wouldn't take him even if he played for free. He'll retire, no one will want him.

I think the club will be focusing on giving the best U18/U16 players game time in the 23s as they did last year. Will be more profitable from a development pov. than persevering with the likes of Cashman

Also helps the lads who aren’t going to make it with us find somewhere to play and get their career rolling than another year playing reserves

On our Liam Kelly thought we’d have heard about him signing by now, might be looking for a longer deal elsewhere with a view to coaching role

Suspect he wants a bit of security for his last playing contract. Think you’re right that he would have signed our offer by now.

Curious as to what the hold up is with Kelly signing?
