Planning permission has been sought by Warwick Uni to build a new Sports Facility. I've seen one CCFC site make the point this could be future home of the Academy.

The application is here: http://bit.ly/29z611m

It would clearly need to be CCFC renting, but there does appear to be scope for all the club requires.

You would hope that CA would already be aware of this and be in talks with the uni to see if it's viable as a dual use facility. The optimism in me says he has...the realism in me says he probably hasn't.

He will use some no one likes crap again and Wasps will use it for a ladies team. I have little confidence in andersons ability to do anything

  • When they got kicked out of the Higgs before they moved onto the University site so there is already a link there.

You realise Covey that since you've been a member for more than over a year but your first post is on this, I'm gonna suspect you of working for the uni?

Make it happen fella....

A few weeks ago we hosted some kind of Premier League U-13 tournament with West Brom and Norwich in the final on the plush pitch. Benfica were there too for some reason. It's depressing to see kids a third your age with more footballing ability than you could ever hope to have. They all looked like James Maddison does now too.

Anderson is currently looking for the Chancellor of Warwick University as we speak... He's wondering why he can't find the campus in Warwick.,,

Does anyone know the proposed timescale for these new facilities, does it
Fit in with the time we likely have to vacate the Higgs centre?

It would be good but how does it solve the Cat 2 Academy status? The sports hall is exactly that, not an indoor pitch. The plans show the sports hall laid out for badminton courts

They're aiming to open it Autumn 2018.
Cheers.
So if Warwick uni were open to a rental agreement, we would have to approach CSF
to see if we could stay another year, would make them look bad if they refused IMHO

If the academy needs an indoor pitch as OSB58 mentions though it's a no-go as that's not part of any plans, the only indoor football will just be a nicer version of what's already there with the big halls.

Ha ha, chance would be a fine thing for that Ostrich to have been looking up.

PS read the small print before getting all excited.
Who will be able to use the new Sports Hub?
The new facilities will be available for students, University sports clubs, staff and the local community.

We need to strike a balance between providing students and staff with access to the new Sports facility and how we serve the wider community around our campus.

Building on our successful model of operations, we are planning to allow members of the public to use the new facility, through a paid for membership system. This will not be at the expense of student access. We feel this approach is the right thing to do in order to provide a well-used, vibrant and sustainable facility, and to give something back to the people that live close to the campus.

Our intention is to work closely with the Students’ Union and University staff to ensure there is sufficient time for staff, students and clubs to exercise and train at the new Centre. We will be actively seeking to engage with our on campus community and key groups on this issue following the planning stage.

... no mention of professional sports club using the facility.... still if SISU invested in the project maybe they could get an agreement.. doubt that they would though..

You would need to explain investment to them first.

I have always thought the University is the answer. My son plays academy football and we have visited a few clubs who share University sites for their first team or academy training facilities and the arrangement in each case seems to work well. This development looks great but lacks an indoor 3G which is necessary for Cat 2, but you never know.

Has to be worth at least a conversation between the club and the uni. Anyone know Anderson's email address? Someone drop him a mail to make sure he knows about it.

not much point getting in touch if any payments are involved! unless the uni.would let us use it for free.

The only way to find that out is to speak to them. Surely worth a phone call from Anderson or should we just forget it and not even enquire?

If he's too incompetent not to have spoken to Warwick Uni about possible future link ups before now, then we really are fucked.

This has been the tried and trusted way of doing things before, maybe not. Seriously i just hope Mr Anderson gets in touch promptly and it would be nice to hear if gets a good response through the media as we dont seem to create any publicity of a positive nature. We just dont talk to them unless it's threating to sue someone

Not wishing to defend them but I imagine the netball league created the franchise and then looked around for anybody who would take one and obviously it can't cost much or they have got somebody to pay for it, check your council tax bills the people of Coventry
