Us - Mid table nothingness in Div 3. Some brief cup excitement

Villa - Relegated at last?

Leicester - Spend a fortune and still not promoted?

TSx

Definitely Leicester who should have run away with that league with the money they have spent in the past 5 years or so PMSL

I think villa will stay up...just. That win yesterday was massive....but they'll be fooked next season when Benteke leaves!

Coventry City wage bill £3.7 million
Leicester City wage bill £27.7 million

We used to be similar sized clubs with similar income and fanbase !!

Leicester will be in serious financial trouble if they don't go up. Genuinely testing the patience of their owners.

Villa have spent way more than people think and have been awful. Think they'll scrape survival - and improve next year.

Brum are about 3 years ahead of Leicester - basically broke - but not as disasterous as us!

Villa have spent a few quid which does quash the rumours that they are a team of kids coming through the system. Benteke cost around £8m which was a good signing, Vlaar, Lowton, Bennett etc all cost around £2m each. They are coming into form now so wont go down.

Leicester have been spending beyond their means for a while and a relying on promotion which is look a wee bit dodgy at the moment!!

this season we have broken so many good records on the playing side this has to go down as a good season.
most goals in a season in more than 30 years.

Despite the downs and off-field controversy, this is the most fun I've had watching City since Hadji, Chippo Keane, McAllister season. Especially during Robins'/McGodrick reign.

FTR - Leicester must've had the worst season. I reckon it's worse to have spent a fortune on nothing than it is to be where we are - but that's just my opinion.

IMO, us, due to our financial difficulties, our managerial losses and our home form, plus some of the shit we have brought in like Ball, Bailey and Jennings. QPR are very far behind though. All that talent, all that money, all that experiance, wasted. Surely they should be doing better than this with the squad they have? Villa havent done bad given they have exiled Darren Bent for no reason and are playing kids in most of the 1st team Leicester will be pissed at the amount of money spent and the lack of success, nothing more than they deserve :)

Interesting to see the comments on Leicester. For the money we've spent, it's reasonable that people think we should be up by now. The last two seasons we've been named among the favourites to win the league but the sensible ones among us never bought into it because we could see the players we'd got weren't good enough to challenge at the top end of the table.

For what it's worth, this season hasn't been a complete disaster. Deadwood has been chopped out. Opponents have been embarrassed. We've had a lot of good moments, but the last couple of months have been a let down. If we don't go up NP will be shown the door, certainly, but next season we'll either be in the Premier League or we'll start again with a new manager (more likely the latter). I'd rather be where we are than where you are.

Hinckley United. Already relegated from conf. north. Only have 3 pts on the league table, had 3pts deducted. 1 win, 3 draws out of 36 games. GD of -99. And maybe expected some finacial surport from ccfc to ground share.

1 win in the last 13 matches and that was against a poor Blackburn team. That's terrible for a team with arguably the biggest playing budget in the Championship, I'm amazed NP is still mumbling his apologies after every game !

No sympathy for other Midland clubs and their plight (naturally) but if we're talking worst season;

Portsmouth facing liquidation in weeks

I spoke at length with Pompey fans at our away game (McDonalds) and their "we don't care so long as we survive" attitude is not only praiseworthy but should help put our own plight into a positive context (by comparison).

This season (forget the -10) promises to be our biggest points haul in the '3 points for a win' era, we have broke all away wins records, have 3 players in the top scoring list, 2 amazing premier league away days and Wembley dreams. I know it's all meant nothing in the end...but I enjoyed the journey :D

Yeah, the ammount of awaywins has been pretty impressive.

I think we only won one away game last season and that was near the end of the season.

This breeds confidence, this isnt a wasteful season. We have learned how to win again, players have found form again, like baker, murphy, wood, etc. And only for 10 point deduction we still would of been fighting for playoffs still.

All this under 5 different managers

If sisu had paid the rent a couple of months back it really could have been such an amazing season, perhaps keeping mcgoldrick, probably keeping Robins, strengthening in the window and play off contenders, perhaps the crewe jpt would have been different too. I was having alot of fun untill then, but it's fallen apart so much recently that I dont even want to go. fingers crossed brighter days are around the corner.

Blackburn were worse than poor, they might as well have not been there. As I say, the last couple of months have been very poor, but unbelievably we're still in with a shout. Well, a whisper. As far as Pearson goes, well it's the same old crap after every game: continue to work hard on the training ground, should have got something from the game etc. We won't go up, and I suspect Pearson won't be escorted out of the building until its confirmed.

Going back to the beginning of your post. The 'biggest playing budget' comment is misleading. In his time here Eriksson was given pretty much a free hand to spend vast amounts of money on players who weren't up to standard: Ball, Johnson, Beckford, Danns, Mills, Peltier, Paintsil, St Ledger. That's a lot of wages. NP has had to build his own team while also trying to dismantle the overpaid and under-talented squad Eriksson left behind. That's a big task when you also consider the likes of Wellens and Logan had inexplicably been handed new contracts.

I know their not mentioned but wolves and blackburn are having worse season than us

Agreed and we think our owners are bad.. That Shebby Singh doesn't know his ass from his big gob so to have that moron in charge must really be depressing.
