Imagine a Penalty shootout to get promoted, with our record :(

Yeah that's the bit I'd be really shitting It on both elements.
In fact I think I'd sub Burge on near the end as he has a reasonable record on pens.

The bigger picture is that RCC is more assured, more vocal and light years more confident - like I said elsewhere, yes he may drop a few clangers, but that's an aspect of his game that should/would be coached out of him.
With Burge, I dunno, no offence to the lad but there's nothing about him...no presence, no air of confidence and a serious issue with decision-making/positioning. I look at him and see a lad bereft of focus and confidence; he's simply not developing or improving.

How do you coach clangers out of someone ?
Its a mistake for fuck sake.

RCC is miles ahead of most keepers in this league, he's one of the reasons we can counter attack so well with starting the moves off from corners etc. heurelho gomes, John Ruddy + Brad Guzan are good keepers but they make more mistakes than they should yet they're international keepers, RCC is very young and i believe he's got a very bright future ahead of him.

The bigger picture seems lost on you, doesn't it?

RCC has potential, confidence, natural ability but he's prone to over-confidence...Burge is basically a good shot-stopper but nothing more; can't catch, can't command his area, can't inspire his defence, can't get his positioning right, can't even arrange a wall for a free kick...

Which one seems most likely to develop into a brilliant goalkeeper? RCC's 'clangers' are the product of his over-confidence, therefore it's likely TM will focus more on getting RCC grounded and more attentive. Burge on the other hand, no offence to him, will be lucky to be here next season.

What part of this seems unbelievable or illogical to you, mate?

Like I said the second is Flecks mistake but it came about because of overplaying it at the back of which Charles-Cook is guilty of, a goal like that has been waiting to happen since he came into the side.

Charles-Cook has potential but also lots of things to work on, my hope is that he will learn from yesterday and it will make him into a better goal keeper. Some people seem to be happy for him to continue overplaying it in defence which will only invite more goals to go in like yesterday.

Yes,the worrying thing for me with Cooke is he has always looked like a frustrated outfield player.I don't remember seeing any goalkeeper anywhere who never kicks the ball out of his hands like Cooke does, he either throws it out or drops it onto the floor. Yes he has got great feet and passes the ball sometimes better than outfield players, but he does take some alarming risks, and perhaps needs to understand there are occasions when you need just put your foot through the ball.
There was a recent home game at the scoreboard end when he overplayed and the ball ended up between his legs. Goalkeepers can't afford to take risks like that, the risk/reward ratio are not worth it.
The first goal on Saturday was a bad error but those things happen occasionally with a greasy ball, but the second goal to me was just poor decision making. On a wet, windy slippery pitch playing the ball to Fleck who was running towards our goal and being closed down, something Cooke should have seen was senseless to me.
To be fair Cooke so far has played pretty well, and often when he has released the ball early to start a quick counter attack, that has been great to see. Yes he is young and still learning so you have to accept the odd mistake, but he needs to learn and quickly that he is first and foremost a goalkeeper, whose primary function is to keep the ball out of our net.

I don't think fleck was being closed down and normally he wouldn't have panicked and just turned away and started another move.

I may be wrong but Tyson closed down rcc and the guy that got his foot in was covering that pass

When Fleck received the ball with his back to goal the player was only about 4-5 yards away. On a greasy pitch with the score at 2-1, the risk was huge as proved, and the reward would have been, what? Stokes in a bit of space still 80 yards from their goal. Yes Fleck must take his share of the blame for it was his mistake, that ultimately led to the goal. With the conditions and the score, why take the risks. Kent goes past players for fun, but you wouldn't want him taking players on in his own penalty area, would you.

Nope, Fleck wasn't being closed down until after he received the ball. He had loads of time to play the right pass or give it back to RCC.

Fleck asked for the ball and had plenty of time. He nonchanty flicked the ball and got caught out.

We've been beaten once in 12 games. Who was in goal for that game?
RCC now has the clean sheet record. We've not been beaten in the 11 league games he's played in.

It's a steep learning curve for all our young players. At 2-1 up with not that long to go and with the pitch greasy the decisions you make are different from 5 up on a sunny September afternoon or chasing the game with a couple of mins to go. I'm sure oggy and TM have spoken to RCC and to fleck. If all learn from this no real harm dine
Listening to TM after the game it was clear that fleck took the blame and was hard on himself.

Absolutely. The good thing is that despite being under par and making errors we still avoided defeat. I think that shows the character of the team and of the management and coaching staff.

Agree. Last season we would have been delighted with that point. This season Saturday's result and the Blackpool one are disappointments because we have higher standards than for a long long while. When was the last time we reached end of November unbeaten at home?

There's a good reason why he looks like an outfield player. He was a winger at Arsenal and for one reason or another ended up playing in goal. I have been told that he has more skill on the ball than most if not all of the players at the club.

TM should put burge in goal and interchange RCC with Kent or JOB. In fact when Kent goes back in January we don't need a loan to replace him.
Seriously though....has there ever been a professional keeper used as an outfield player? (Not a testimonial)

That doesn't surprise me, indeed I was told don't how true it is, that he had a heart murmur, and that is why he switched to being a goalkeeper. Indeed you could easily imagine him being an outfield player, unlike say Oggy who could only ever have been a goalkeeper. I imagine he will continue to seek to play the ball out from the back, but sides have clearly worked out that we don't like clearing the ball upfield and after Saturday you would imagine that sides will seek to press high up the pitch against us.

There's been a couple of clips of him doing some tricks in training on SBP. Seems to have a decent amount of skill.

There was a video of him I think on Sky Blues Player taking free kicks and he was really good. Some of the tricks he was doing with the ball you wouldn't catch Neville Southall doing either.

It just needs to be drilled into him to know when to play it and when it is ok to put his foot through it for a throw in by their corner flag to take the pressure off.

Apparently it's down to him having a heart condition or murmur
