Maybe Wasps getting the Ricoh has already served it's purpose. Their owner got 10m back that the club owed him. There wasn't much chance of getting his money back previously. At worse it seems that if they lose the Ricoh in 2022 they will take up another rental agreement closer to where they should be. All the money they raised was against the Ricoh. And I just can't see how they can raise a total of 50m in 7 years.
Imagine if that was seppala? People were going mental about a city asset. Not too fussed now.

How would it work with the liability of the bonds? Wasps will no longer have 100% of the lease, and I think the bond debt is to wasps holdings not ACL, so if sisu bought 50% ACL, wasps half wouldn't be worth the £42m needed to cover their liability?

Unless wasps fail or struggle to pay off the bonds I can't see them selling any of ACL.

... and I dare say that's right too.

Please Please No! Dreadful place for a community football club stadium, a football ground belongs to the community easily accessible to all, if it was to be built on a motorway interchange that would see me and a lot of other fans finished with the club. Following football is a way of life, old pubs, chip shops on the street corner, visiting fans can come into the city boundaries and see the city, if they ever do build a new stadium and SISU want fans on there side it has to be built as close to the city centre as possible.

Glad the ricoh isn't by a junction!

And get RBC to pay for the build?

Good location but still can't see SISU paying for the build. They are after their money back and not spending untold millions more.

Crikey, I don't know how you didn't enter the business world

Would be pissed off if we had to raise 50m in 7 years. Why should we be fussed that Wasps have to raise 50m in 7 years? I don't think much of the chances of either clubs raising that much. But yes a reason to have a dig at anyone?

The Ricoh is in my opinion too far out but at least in the boundaries just! You also have the pubs and clubs of Foleshill Rd and around the ground which is what your average fan wants as these pubs and clubs are always packed. I was never against the move from HR just don't like the design and location, would of preferred Humber Rd, Parkside, The old Alvis factory or where the Village hotel at Canley is.

Maybe they will have an Otium type Company sitting dormant at Companies House?

Its interesting they have indictaed that site for housing, when they need to build around 12,400 houses between now and 2031.

As Lord Nampil rightly pointed out the key word is intended, it may well be intended now, but could change.

This could be affected by the plans to build up to 7000 new homes on the old Rugby Mast site, close to Dirft and other proposals in Rugby, such as the Ashlawn Road proposal of over 1000 homes. Both these plans are near nailed on (The Dirft one will include the building of Rugby Parkway station) and will mean within 5 years the Council will have met around two thirds of new home proposals.

This coupled with plenty of brown field development in the town, and other projects in the Borough could mean that Ansty may never need housing on, and could therefore be prime for other development.......or not.

I don't really want to watch Coventry City play in the middle of a motorway junction either.
Coventry City play in Coventry as that is where they get there name from!

Wouldn't bother me so long as access is OK. Its near enough as makes no difference. Can't imagine it would be a pleasant place to live though with all the noise, fumes etc.

Wasps didn't come here to go 50/50

No they didn't but on the other hand, if credible plans to build a stadium emerge then they would at least need to do the math between what the value of Ricoh is with CCFC on a long term lease and the value without, and the profits with vs profits without. That added value is essentially the amount of equity that they could afford to sell without affecting their bottom line. Whether or not they have any willingness to do this is another matter, as is all the financial arrangements with the bond repayments etc etc.

Bottom line, I can't see it. I can't see CCC agreeing the Butts... where does that leave us in the long run.

This has probably been discussed before, but why not slap bang next to the Ricoh?

There's the scrap yard place and it would need some rejigging, but space could be made there. You'd just have to make sure Wasps and City never play at home on the same day.

I'd take it to. I think housing is a non starter. Industrial is the most likely use but whatever happens there I can only ever see access being an issue.

I mentioned before (possibly on this thread) that a rumour doing the rounds in the short circuit motorsport world is that is where Brandon's replacement is going and it will be the new home of the Bee's and other motorsport that currently happens at Brandon. That's the rumour anyway.

You'll like this bit, ahem. There is an announcement due in the new year.

Another place is on the Rolls Royce site at Ansty not far from the map Italia put up. Most of the factory has been closed down already. Its brownfield and I doubt they'd build houses on it. Its close to the A4600 and the M6. Whats not to like?

You know the one thing that bugs me the most? That's if Wasps are in Coventry and Coventry City are not. A team that doesn't belong here in our city and a team that does belong in the city, outside the city.

That wouldn't be too bad. It is pretty much next to Coombe Abbey.

They would probably need to improve the roads around there though.

Is new rent deal at ricoh been dismissed then? Csnt be arsed to read whole thread sorry

It can't be dismissed, whilst we are still solvent, as we have no where else to go.
A new deal will be required whether we build the stadium or not.

What we don't know is what the 2 year extension deal is with ACL (pre Wasps) and what input Wasps will have into it.
I would guess that an increase is built in for promotion and that they will wait until Sisu are 'sorted' at the JR or at least sort themselves out.
