I remember when that whale died in the Tahmaes a few years ago, Central News interviewed visitors at Seaworld Birmingham for their reaction.

Now that's a fucking shoehorning!

Maybe they never went to the Tahmaes as they didn't know where it is :)

This is another good example:

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/ne...r-coventry-university-student-jailed-10607659

The crime happened in london, it was judged in London but the woman used to go to cov uni so it's big news here?

I feel sorry for the reporters if they are basically limited now to re-writing stories just to try and generate clicks rather than reporting news and investigating. I doubt they enjoy it. It is going to get to the point where anybody big in the news who once stopped a corley services for a piss is going to get an article.

Come back at 4 to see the responses about my response.

I was trying to put a link on earlier for off topic
Scary story though.
I read it and thought Ouch, never even registered whether there was a local angle or not.

I think it was about the bail out, and all the same as when les reid went gardening, then he came back the same day the editor went. He then got a pay out.

Apparently they did a deal to keep the story quiet.

Some other stuff was also in the ethics meeting about the editor being briefed and pr stuff. Again, dated with the old editor I think.

No mention of it in the telegraph or a statement saying it's not true

Is this allegations then by SISU?

Have a look at the ethics meeting documents.

Just read Les Reid's article. By the way ChiefDave wrote his comment. I got the impression it was an accepted fact CET got together with CCC in order to help pave the way to get Wasps in.

All I can find is the previous editor of the CET asking to be told first if there is a story.

Also some councillors saying they are happy the way the local media seem on board with the council media strategy.

Separate to that it seems as I always assumed was the case, the council had a media strategy driven by ACL's PR company?

Ok, admittedly I am not a CET hater as some on here are but I heard this rumour last month and even know a couple of chaps who work with my mate who have money on it.

Think they got 12/1 or 10/1 and I believe one of them is one of the more "vocal" fans that a few on here would know.

Yes but at least he was saying it some time before the CET story

I have no issue with either ACL or SISU appointing PR advisors. I would be amazed if they didn't. Still find it a bit strange when a big deal is made about it on here.

Stadium management companies don't need advisors like WS and councils certainly shouldn't.

Think it's the fact they deny it as well, and the pr company works with the telegraph and supporters direct...

To be honest a local charity and a council embroiled in what seemed like hostile negotions over the purchase of a management company by a hedgefund.
They probably didn't need the PR company I think they already had and still have the majority of the Coventry public on their side. SISU definitely should have done and I think they did.

It's the sign of the times today. Have a read of the newspapers in the days leading up to a Government cut or a policy change diminishing a public service.

Corrupt Police everywhere
Fat cats in the NHS earning thousands
Lazy firemen
Incompetent Border force

Everybody is using PR in these circumstances I would have said SISU needs it more though.

There is nothing wrong with using PR. As long as the PR is the truth.

That's what PR companies do don't they?
Work with the media. What were they doing with supporters?

I doubt many councils would employ an agency such as WS

So the company is more important than the strategy.

Which way are you standing on this?

Most are on their side because of the pr attack aren't they? That's the whole idea of it.

The fact they also deny it...

Anyway, I'm sure them carrying out "media wars" and lying about it is fine. Who paid for it?

You aren't going to say it was wrong are you?

They lied about using a PR company?
I didn't think they have lied about using that to be honest. I will condemn them if they have.
I believe ACL paid for it as it was their PR company?
No I am not going to say there is anything wrong with using a PR company as it is good business practice. As long as the PR is true. I don't agree with false stories.
I think it is a good idea that SISU are using one so why would I think it is a bad idea for someone else to use one?
As I say can't really understand the handful of people who make a big deal about it on here to be honest.

You would be spitting feathers if sisu had their pr company target Ann Lucas at her home...

What about if les reid did a deal with sisu to hide some news?

They say there was no pr / media attack, yet council emails say there was. That's council, not acl.

Yes if SISU asked their PR company to target Anne Lucas' home I would think it would be disgusting.
I take it ACL asked WS to target Joy Seppala's home address. If this is true whoever asked WS to do this should be seriously punished who asked them to target her home address and what were they asked to do?
So the same councillor has denied having a media strategy then in emails admitted they have who was it?.When did they say there is no media strategy and when did they send an email saying there is one?

Have a read through the ethics meeting...

I'm not on about strategy, about pr war / attack (I can't remember the exact wording in the email)

Also strange that a fans organization was working with the pr company of a council / stadium management company.

Bloody hell Nick your reply keeps changing as I answer you!!!

This is my third one hopefully this will answer everything. Who has done a deal with ACL to hide news? What news have they hidden?
So if SISU meet Les tomorrow and say the new stadium coukd be in the Butts Arena, but you can't print that yet because of confidentiality. However when we know if it's going to happen you will be the first with the story. Is that the type of thing? I am guessing that type of thing happens in the media a lot?
I think Les has intimated that there is a lot of information he is privy to that he can't print? When he can he will. Is that what you mean?

Also strange that a fans organization was working with the pr company of a council / stadium management company.

But Mr Goacher dismissed accusations of a media campaign. He said: “A lot has been said about the Weber Shandwick documents and references to Joy Seppala and targeting her and her home. This was a particular area of concern of the complainants when I met them. But if you look for a link between the comments made in the press and the Weber Shandwick emails, there is no link.”

Had a quick look Nick and found the above.

Is he basically saying someone suggested it but when you look at what actually happened. It never happened.

I agree with you whoever suggested it be it WS or an ACL employee. Needs to be spoken to. Maybe they already have been at the time and that's why it was never more than an email with a stupid idea?

I don't personally like Joy Sepalla's business ideas but she herself seems a nice person. Nobody should get hassled at their family home.

Mr goacher who was investigating a complaint he didn't actually understand?

Saying a job was done early confirms action.

Very good timing for your account to work isn't it? ;) which court case was it last time?

Of course I have a different opinion to yours so I must work for the council, wasps or WS. At least you don't just throw that out there when you are losing a debate.
Out of intetest who was WS meeting up with fans wise?
Also is that different to ML asking the site owner of one of the most popular fans sites to pick some people from the site and join you in meeting him so he can give you his side of the story and show you some documents.
Again I have no issues with either action only that I wish they both did it to the masses.

Both sides used PR and they are entitled to. SISU made some very public statements through Seppala and Fisher to the CET...unfortunately it sent the wrong message to CCC and the fans on more than one occasion. Only SISU are responsible for that. They were openly proud of their hardball reputation to the point of bragging about it. Bring it on they said, everyone knew what they were trying to do. When they lost..I have no sympathy with them. They drove most of it. They missed an opportunity to get the club back on track.

If you believe the Ricoh can make money and could have benefited the club....they are responsible for missing the opportunity.

If the Ricoh is worthless and was not worth a bid..Grendel and Fishers standpoint ...why are we bothered?

Instead of reading the report you need to read the evidence. The emails are a good place to start:
http://democraticservices.coventry.gov.uk/documents/s26521/Appendix 5b Documents.pdf

There's stuff in there about getting people to go to Joys house along with all sorts of other things. One interesting thing I just noticed was that when Lucas offered to meet with Sepalla and Joy said yes that is referred to as an 'issue', clearly they were expecting her to say no!

So they told the telegraph to try and get it cancelled and make SISU look bad? ;)
