A difficult game to score, it was a game where were were under par, outplayed in the first half, better in the second but created little.
RCC - 6 - did what he needed too, never really tested despite port vale getting in our final third a lot int be first half. Claimed some catches, distribution not as a good as usual.
Phillips - 6 port vale targeted him on the first half, but was on of his better games. Didn't offer any outlier going forward.
Martin - 8 (MOTM) - was impressive today, made numerous last ditch blocks. Looked calm and composed in the ball.
Ricketts - 6 - had a few awkward moments in the first half and was a too casual at times.
Stokes - 6 - he is mr consistent, he does remarkably well given Murphy offers zero protection. Also tried to give us an option on the left
Vincelot - 5 - was poor first. He and Bigi gave their midfield far too much room and port vale were able to pass through us and get into the whole between the midfield and defence.
Bigi - 4 - like Vincelot gave port vale too much space in the midfield. Gave the ball away a lot, was far too deep and took too long to control and choose his pass. One nice ball out Phillips in the first half.
Lamieres - 5 - showed some nice touches, and a great through ball for Murphy. But like the rest of the midfield struggled to impose himself on the game in the first half
Cole - 5.5 - though he looked more assured on the ball and one amazing piece of skill. But you can't forgive the first half in which our midfield was dominated.
Murphy - 6.5 - offers nothing defensively, and the amount of times he waits for pass to arrive to him is frustrating, but he was the initial catalyst that got us on the front foot in the second half with some strong running.
Armstrong - 5 - looks a shadow of his former self. Looks like he needs a break.
Subs
JOB - 7 - his work rate upped the tempo, he didn't give their midfield or left bAck a second on the ball and it seems to drag the team forward 10 yards.
Maddison - 7 - Looked stronger than last Saturday, what a piece of skill and shot for the goal. His movement off the ball and ability on it, is head and shoulders above anyone else in our squad
Kent - 3 - ran around a bit, and missed a glorious chance in his only touch after coming on. Just couldn't get into the match but provided fresh legs.
