I think Crewe are on for a hiding tomorrow. Got a feeling we will click. 0-4

Why is it disrespectful to expect a team near the top of the table to get at least a point against a team near the bottom of the table?

My comment was aimed at the one that claimed that they have no chance.

We beat them this season :)

Would be great to get a double over the "Bogeymen"

PUSB

Oh absolutely, but if it's a rain-soaked hoof-fest, and Crewe try to muscle a win, I just wanna see our boys show some grit and balls and bring the points home. A scruffy 1-0/2-1 win will show we can battle.

Will be tight for the first 60 mins , but I do expect Crewe to cave in if we score first or they are leading at any point. Their confidence is very fragile.

1-4 to us , Arma back amongst the goals.

Rcc
phillips, Ricketts, Stokes, Haynes
job, fleck, vincelot, Murphy
Maddison,
Armstrong

Habers a handful. If it's stokes and Ricketts centre half he will give them a torrid time.

And Armstrong, Murphy and Maddison won't at the other end? ;)

I prefer to concentrate on our weaponry rather than theirs and ours is better for sure!! :)

They've scored 23 goals in 23 games, compared to our 41 in 24.

I am a lot more confident about our attacking prowess than theirs.

Murphy's due a good game and a goal and so to is Armstrong and Maddison has scored two fabulous goals in two games, so you can be bound sure they will be worrying about him you would have thought.

I am happy with Stokes at CB, it's just Haynes and Phillips that worry me a bit.

I know we have not been red hot these past six games, but I am not convinced by the notion of the Crewe forwards giving us a torrid time or of us losing the match either.

Crewe's last 6 matches.

Crewe 1 - 5 Peterborough

Bradford 2 - 0 Crewe

Crewe 0 - 1 Eastleigh (FA Cup)

Doncaster 3 - 2 Crewe

Crewe 1 - 1 Fleetwood

Crewe 1 - 2 Shrewsbury

Of course. Just saying he's a bit of a brute, gave Reda a torrid time at the Ricoh last year, could cause us a few problems when we're abit vulnerable to the highball and set pieces

I'm sure Mowbray will be concentrating on both sides weaponary, not just ours! :D

Not dissimilar to chesterfields. We need shooting if we fail to beat Crewe as well.

Well, that's where you and me differ. I will be okay with a draw as long as we beat Walsall next game after.

Be brilliant to win, but I don't see it exactly as a must win.

I think it'll be a tough game, no doubt about it. In fact I think we could well lose, given record against Crewe and how off the boil we've looked since Gills game. But to suggest we'd be LUCKY to get a point is silly. A team that has lost 4 times all year.

I hope we can recapture the form of the Autumn, and with JM10 firing, AA's new deal having come through, Stokes playing well at CB, and a good number of fans backing us against a poor poor side, I hope we can begin the year well.

Hopefully the attention on Maddison will give space to AA, JM and Kent (if he plays)

That form worries me. Hadn't Chesterfield lost 7 in a row before we played them?

Anyway, a win tomorrow :D PUSB

Just checked the form table and us and Crewe have the same form in the last 6 league games - 7 points / 1.17 ppg,

You've missed a couple of their games

Bradford 2 - 0 Crewe

Crewe 1 - 5 Peterborough

Colchester 2 - 3 Crewe

Crewe 1 - 0 Oldham

Doncaster 3 - 2 Crewe

Crewe 1 - 1 Fleetwood

Crewe 1 - 2 Shrewsbury

Crewe v CCFC

I feel a bit better now I know they're not in a long losing run!

Err, that's 7 games Stu, not 6. :)

I picked out the last 6 games. That win at Colchester was 7 games ago.

This IS Crewe's last 6 results. 1 is the FA Cup match. The last 6 in the league obviously provides a different stat because that takes out the Eastleigh game.

You've still listed 7 games though Stu, rather than 6. ;)

I checked the Eastleigh result and would have taken that out of the reckoning if they had, had multiple changes and rested first teamers as we did for our cup game the previous round, but they didn't. The team they fielded was almost identical to the one they fielded in the previous league game.

Last 6 matches they have drawn just 1 and lost 5.

And that`s what worries me and I think quite a few others, Otis. We seem to mess up these "should win on form" games too often.

If we are to make a serious challenge for the autos we really need to start winning these games against the strugglers.

As I keep saying Phil, this is OLD City, not new City. :)

We have lost just FOUR league games all season. Doesn't that point to us NOT messing up? Four matches and the Sheff Utd. Should never have been a defeat had we had better officiating.

Depends what you call messing up I suppose which depends on aspirations. If finishing top 2 is the ambition then just not losing games is probably not enough and not winning games such as Oldham, Doncaster,Chesterfield or today could be considered "messing up". If play offs is the ambition then there is a lot more margin for error

Is top 2 the ambition? Didn't we only start talking about automatic promotion once we were top 2? Hasn't TM said it's a 2 year plan? Is it TM's ambition for top 2?

Me personally, I would be delighted with a top 6 place and an automatic place would be absolutely brilliant!

I know we are hurting a bit with injuries Macca, so I am waiting to see what happens in the Jan window. If TM strengthens, then I will say top 2 is my ambition for the team.

If you look at our potential back four for today, Phillips, Ricketts, Stokes and Haynes, then I would say a draw today is okay. Wouldn't call that messing up.

A lot of what I read on here says we are the best side in the league, it's a shit league, we can secure top 2 etc etc. People with that standpoint can't be happy with current form. Personally I would be happy with a play off adventure or even a top 8 finish unless we find the pre Gillingham form again

Whoops yes I accidentally put 7 games but those are not the last 6 Otis. The Eastleigh game was the 7th Nov, they've played 6 league games since then They have won 2 drawn 1 lost 3 (Shrewsbury to Peterborough game):

I am hoping with some shrewd dealing we can re-find that form. At the moment I am quite happy our being there or thereabouts.

We are 4 points behind Walsall in first. The way I see it today is, if we draw and Walsall win, they will be 6 points ahead of us. But then if we beat Walsall next game then we would only be 3 points behind and in a better position than we are at the moment. I just don't see today as a must win, I really don't.

We're just 4 points behind first place. Let's see what TM conjures up in the transfer window.

Let's hope he does or the form returns because even in your very positive frame of mind, the last 7 results is not condusive to overhauling a 4 point deficit which is going to disappoint a lot of people who are already planning their Championship away trips!

Yep, you're right, my mistake, on the second page I read from the bottom to top, thinking that was the previous results in order, but the Beeb do it by month.

My mistake. Yep, they have had the one win.

I still think we can get a result there today and I would be happy with a draw, unless of course we completely dominate but mess up in front of goal.

Yup, bang on Macca. If the aim is for promotion this season then you have to be aiming for top 2 as its the only guarantee of promotion, the play offs are a lottery.

What happened to the 2 year plan then? ;)

Do we only start talking about that again when we drop down to 7th? ;)
