Really enjoyed the FA Cup ties this weekend and it looks like most clubs are taking it seriously again, and I admit I was thinking I wish we were still in it to be honest.I said I was glad we were out of it so we could concentrate on the league on a thread when we got knocked out,but there's something about the FA Cup and it could be down to tradition ? Anybody else feel the same ?

There's still one Coventry side in the FA cup. 3Rd round draw is at 1 at o'clock tomorrow

I don't know if it's they are taking it seriously or if it's just so long since some clubs won anything, they want to put something in the silverware cabinet.

Fair comment but I noticed attendances are up and watching some of the ties you could see the effort being put in by most of the players. In the 60's and 70's the FA Cup was a massive competition and a good Cup run was what all clubs wanted. And of course 87 will live long in the memory !

I watched the Exeter vs Liverpool game and it was obvious that Exeter wanted it far more than Liverpool. I'd like to see the Premier League clubs excluded from the FA Cup. They could have their own FA Champions League type cup just involving the Premier League.

Good suggestion as we could be in with a chance of winning it again. But then again lower league clubs beat us don't they !

The 'magic' of the FA Cup is that everyone is in it. Instead of taking the top teams out they should be forced to play their proper sides. Ridiculous that you can get fined for making too many changes in the JPT as it impacts the integrity of the competition but you have PL teams making 11 changes this weekend.

I was wondering about that earlier today, if they brought something like that in for the FA Cup. Most of the prem teams would kick up a proper stink over it, claiming it was some sort of abuse and how they need their players to be rested. I think it should either be that or make them join from the first round. If they really don't care then they can play more non-league teams and hopefully let the non-league teams get more giant killings.

Personally, I think the FA Cup lost its magic a long time ago. Other than the occasional giant-killing match, I don't bother watching it any more once CCFC are out. I don't even watch the final. I could not tell you who won it for the last 3 years.

Money got the better of it: FA (& Prem league) sold out to Sky; money poured into the more popular (& already more attractive to any talented players floating around) clubs...the likes of Les Tiss' staying with a club like Saints would be even more unlikely today; obsessed with PL money clubs happily play weakened sides safe in the knowledge that 9x in 10 they will get through...until the QF...then the attitude changes (almost like 'the FA Cup starts here); Semi-finals at Wembley...it isn't so magical anymore. Bit like winning the PL isn't the foremost objective anymore either...top 4 is as that brings ECL money in.

It is sad...but every era has things that go past their sell-by date. 'Terry & June' was considerd funny & was hugely popular once upon a time, pubs of all shapes, sizes & themes were 1/2 full even on a Monday night too

...onwards & upwards PUSB

The draw on the fecking one show! Gone down hill very quickly!
Yep. Next year it is scheduled for between Fifi and the Flowertots and Bottle top Bill on Channel Five.

The year after they aren't going to bother having a draw at all and will just let teams arrange their games by picking short straws in stadium car parks.

The next stage would be gives the team names to a tv executive who can then choose the games that suit TV most. Then again with Man Utd on again it is partly already done as whoever hey play they are on .
