When we come to play Southend on the 23rd it will have been 2 months of the season with only 2 wins, including the busy Christmas period. In that time we've thrown away leads against Walsall, Oldham and Doncaster, are potentially 12 points behind the leaders now and are level on points with a resurgent Wigan. If we were to gain automatic promotion with that kind of form then the league has to be incredibly weak this year.
In my opinion we can't be looking at autos anymore, we need to go on a solid winning run just to stay in the playoffs as we are only a few points ahead of Sheffield and Peterborough who have games in hand.
I don't know what's gone wrong but it feels as though we're letting the opportunity slip through our fingers. We have the best team in the league on its day but that day is currently far too irregular and i feel it's looking less and less likely we're going to have a promotion to look forward to in May. Really hope I can be proved wrong.
