I can see him letting Bigi go when his loan expires, is it the end of this month ?

It's grape vine stuff... But Mogga might be in for a loan move of Spurs kid who has just come back from Rangers. He was a prime target for him back in pre season.

Nathan Oduwa? Came back because they want him playing more often than he was at Rangers apparently.

Aren't we looking for someone who can chip in with 6-8 goals in the next 18 games?

Oduwa scored 0 goals in 11 games at Luton and 1 goal in 15 games at Rangers. You'd probably say League 1 is a higher standard than both too. Wikipedia has him down as a winger though, not a forward

Mogga has confirmed he isn't looking at wide players now and is concentrating on a centre back and striker on loan.

remember when grendel maintained we wouldnt miss reda

The statistics show we haven't. Our points per game improved - it's the removal of Martin that has led to the decline and frankly Johnson did what he does - play a handful of games - if you sign him that's all you get

We should never have resigned him and spent on a more reliable alternative.

Peoples' fixation with Pennington seems rather disconcerting. Firstly, he is nothing in the mould of the CB we need. We need a big bully-type defender to add a bit of presence at the back. Secondly, to suggest playing him at RB? He wasn't really very good at RB at all. It would be a horrendous waste of a squad/loan place for me.

Yes, the bizarre nostalgia for former loanees is odd. It was a terrible season last year and Pennington looked slightly better than the players around him.

Totally agree. A HUGE mistake. He is absorbing wages we should have spent on a player who could actually play for us.

So, where are we?
Sounds like we've gone from three to two with the assumption we have enough wide players.
It does seem like he's indicating loans but I wonder If we might see a modest fee paid for someone, thinking Striker specifically?

Spurs snapping up the youngsters is a repeat of their plan from 10 years ago when they signed players like Dawson and Davenport and a dozen others. That didn't work out so well, iirc. But when players like Alli pop up I guess it makes people think. For too long the foreign legion have been brought in, to the detriment of English talent. As much as I would hate to see Maddison go, I do have a romantic notion about players from lower leagues making it to the top. Can only be good for English football if money drips down and talent climbs up.

So something should happen today considering it is the last Thursday of the window.

Well Mogga was close to a signing on Tuesday and nothing has materialised.

Looks unlikely we will have anyone in for the weekend game.

Loan window it is from next week.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but this is obviously driving young home grown player recruitment by premiership clubs.

Seems like the original planned deal for a defender isn't happening. Mowbray said he'll use the afternoon to identity a 'footballing defender'.

I'm sure there must be suitable players out there, and I'm all for Mowbray's careful considered approach in the market but I think not filling our obvious needs (big defender and striker) has cost us dearly the last 3 games.

It's seems very odd that his most recent loans have been midfield - the one area we have options.

If we sold Maddison in the next few days and he was loaned back to us that is all well and good...but would TM even have time to sign any perm players with whatever little cash he would be given?

The timing of any deal seems pointless to the club right now.

Exactly. He would be classed as a loan player with slots in short supply.

I just don't see any deal happening unless Spurs chuck in some free players.

His most recent loan was Bigi, as backup to Fleck and we don't have options there. Also, highly possible that he's been told if a bid comes in for Fleck, he's off. On the same day was Armstrong, hardly a waste of a loan spot or a midfielder. Our one other loan was Murphy at the start of the season, still the only pace in the squad bar Arma.

Not sure what you're on about, other than your personal issues with Bigi.
