so who's going to replace Tony Mowbray then? (2 Viewers)

Clearly it's got to be someone who can deliver automatic promotion by Xmas as the chance isn't enough for some.

Also it's pretty clear TM, MV and JC come as a team so we need someone who has the ability to bring us players better than Armstrong as clearly players like Armstrong etc. aren't good enough as they didn't get us promoted by Xmas.

So all the posters calling for Mowbray to go tell us your master plan. I'm sure you must have thought of this before calling for Mowbray's head.

I get the irony of the OP.

The point is....it doesn't matter. It hasn't for years and years and years......yet some see it as 'the answer'.

It's so bad, it's not even classed as repeating the same mistake anymore........it's an effin' tradition of failure.

I'll edit to add:

Some managers have enough time and don't get it right, some are dreadful from day 1 and some get fired because it's warranted.

In our particular circumstances, at this point, given what we've seen so far, with our failed recent track record of firing and hiring managers and the same old handful of available replacements that lurch from one failure to another....

....it's fucking insanity to get rid of Mowbray.

I think the OP is a school child.

An utterly ridiculous thread.

Why is it? It's a sensible question...anyone saying that TM should go....who do they suggest comes in?

I think you need to let you personal grievances drop sometimes G....

Just as it's stupid to change managers at the drop of a hat, it's equally stupid to think nobody capable would be interested in the job if Mowbray were to leave at any stage.

A manager can only do so much, he can't work miracles. It comes down to the players. If the players just don't have the talent or won't put in the effort, if they don't want it enough, it wont happen. And it isn't happening for us. And I don't think the manager is to blame.

Keep up, OP. Mowbray went to Fulham remember.

It does though doesn't it.

Mowbray being here in the first place, backs it up.

Erm yes....but some on here want him sacked.

I've already made my point regarding the validity of some managerial changes. However, it generally doesn't work. In fact, in our case, it's failed quite spectacularly in the last 10 years.

Back in the days of GMK, I did an article about how Peter Reid wasn't as spectacularly awful as he was made out to be.

Generally, statistically, managers have very little influence on results apart from an initial bounce... unless you give them long enough to stamp their ideas on a club.

If anything, the concern with Mowbray should be the reliance on loans and short term oldies, who won't be here for the long term...

The fact is we have never had any trouble of obtaining replacements so it is absurd.

It is not neccessary to identify replacements if the situation arose but we know plenty would be looking at the job and want it.

All managers are capable it's just some are more capable than others. Clearly getting the team in a position that most fans wouldn't have believed possible twelve months ago isn't capable enough for some.

So my question is who's going to come in and replace TM who's capable to deliver more than TM has until now as for some it clearly isn't enough for them.

Pressley got the club to that position also and with a ten point reduction so the point you make is redundant

You'll have no problem answering the question in the OP then as we don't have any problems replacing managers and you apparently know plenty would be looking at the job and want it.

There were over 60 applications last time

Pressley had two years in the job TM has had one, half of which was with a failing squad he inherited from the aforementioned SP so realistically you've barely given him six months to A) rebuild a club, not just a team and B) achieve something better than fifth in the league. Even you can see the difference I'm sure.

I was merely answering the point you made. No one thought after a ten point reduction and being moved to a ground with a very low support base that the club would have ended up where it was by January of that season.

Pressley was given two years - which was too long -- he should have been sacked well before Christmas last season

I think you have made a highly valid point Grendel

And how many were better or equal to TM? In your opinion?

PS you still didn't answer the question.

Again this is ludicrous. Manager selection requires a large amount of fortune. A manager can be picked who slots in and works with a club and yet is an abject failure elsewhere. For example if we had recruited Russell Slade after his failings at Brighton the forum would have gone into meltdown but at Orient he was a fantastic success. Robins was hugely successful at his time here. There is no straightforward answer but to not be in the top 6 this season would require a massive downturn in form post November so that would constitute failure and I would not see any point in retaining the manager next season on that basis.

The club has to evaluate its options - if results carried on as they are for another month I would have no problem with them lining up another replacement to try and get a boost in results and achieve play off positioning.

You also fail to acknowledge that SP inherited the spine of the team that achieved that with Clarke, Wilson, Baker and Mousa to name a few. Who did Mowbray inherit of that quality and ability out the box?

Robins wasn't here long enough to fall on his sword but if he was I have no doubt you would be one of the ones leading the charge.

Still not answering the question though I noticed. If I was being cynical I'd say that you haven't thought this Mowbray out campaign through.
