To be fair Millwall and Wigan are completely different teams now. They've improved and we've gradually declined

wev'e not had a back four for 2 months, looks like mowbrays solved that problem at last, it's not as if we can get any worse, win tomorrow and 5 points off 2nd, need to put a run together and quick

I still think we'll need 90+ points to claim an autos spot, that's around 13 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss from our remaining 17 games.

Our back four has been hit badly lately, Martin, Turner and then having to bring Ramage in.

Hopefully these two lads will steady the ship. Be strong at the back and you will always fancy tour chances in games.

When we win tomorrow we will be only 5 points off automatic
Very true.

I recall a couple of months back saying we are 11 points clear of 7th, we have to be assured of a top six place haven't we?

Now look how close teams are. Nice to see Walsall and Burton slipping up here and there. If we can bag 2 or 3 wins on the bounce we could be really close to the top 2 again.

Let's get those back to back victories first, starting tomorrow. Be very happy with a grind-out 1-0 win.

Stevens is alright on FIFA, rated slightly higher than Martin. Cargill slightly worse but I haven't played him yet. Then again Peter Ramage is rated higher than all of them.

Really hope we get back a solid back line.

If Ramage is rated higher you need to go back to Game and say your copy is faulty.

But even if we lose we will still be in the top 6.

Yeah I know but my point is, when we play tomorrow we will then be 1 game up on teams below us ie Millwall & Southend who are both in form so I would predict that a defeat tomorrow would end up with us dropping out on the next round of games.

We've won just 2 in the last 11 and suffered 3 consecutive defeats. So how likely are those 3 wins in a row?

I know. Just saying and it is based on us now having a drastic turn in our fortunes.

IF we can get our season back on track there is a still a chance.

If we don't of course we are going to be midtable at best.

How likely was it that we went on that poor run after the Gillingham match when we went top?

Look at Brighton, unbeaten till December. Then went 8 games without a win and looked in danger of slipping out the play offs, now 3 wins in a row again to stabilise.

If we can grind out a few results, with the players we have available its not unreasonable to think we can go on another good run once the players get a bit of confidence back.

A lot of people now seem to saying Wigan to go up. They have 55 points. To reach 90 they would need 35 points from 16 games.

That equates to 10 wins and 5 draws and 1 defeat.

11 wins and 2 draws and 3 defeats.

12 wins.

Still a really big ask. Whoever would need to get to 90 points would have to still have very excellent form, Burton apart, who could afford to win 10 out of 17 and lose 7 of them and still reach 90. That is a very good place to be.

It will be just below 90 imo, 86-89 will get automatic promotion this year imo
I am hoping it is lower. The lower it is the better chance we have.

One good thing I can sense in our favour is that if we did make the play-offs I think the old wise heads such as Henderson, Cole, Ricketts and Hunt could really work in our favour.

Think kids can freeze. These players have been round the block and could prove invaluable.

If it were to be a penalty shootout to win a play-off game, I would really fancy Joe Cole to do the business. Murphy or Maddison I wouldn't.

Hang on Otis. You've just said on another thread that we can get 36 points to get to 84 but now suggesting Wigan can't put a similar run together to get the 35 points they need to get to 90? ;)

Nope. Just saying it is really tough for us to get to 84, but it is possible and that it is still a big ask for Wigan to get to 90, even though everyone seems to be tipping them and 90 points seems to often be the magic figure to get to.

Didn't say Wigan couldn't do it, just that it is still a big ask.

Wigan are 7 points ahead of us. 84 + 7 is 91, so the parity is there.

Can I just add, I've never said Wigan's task is as tough as ours. They are on the good run, we are on the poor run.

Just that if they are to get to 90 points, they still have big task ahead of them.

Yeah, wasn't totally sure, but I sort of gathered you might be. We all know you are a sensible lad, in spite of all your renowned negativity! ;)
