Mowbrays Chopping and Changing (5 Viewers)

Has to stop. Simple as that. He is reminding me of Pressley towards the end of his tenure. He needs to work out his best team and stick with it. There isn't a person on this forum who would have picked the starting eleven today. He has just signed about 9 players in January and started the game with 3 players out of position. If it's not bad enough that he is making about 4 changes a game, he changes the formation and line up about 4 times in each game. I couldn't tell you what formation we played with today and who was playing where. To start Rose on the right wing was absolutely ridiculous. Mowbray is costing us badly at the minute.

Rose right wing or right side of midfield? There is a big difference. I think Murphy Maddison and Armstrong were rotating up front...to try and confuse Port Vales marking I would guess.

People have been asking for a plan B...but unless it is the 4-4--2 that is stuck in their head it is no good.

However I do agree we need stability now. I think today's back four could become a solid unit over the next few games. Let's keep scrapping and hope we benefit from a bit of fallout.

In a way I agree but today we had 2 debutants, 3 if you count Henderson plus 2 playing their second game that's half a team so let's give Mowbray a bit of slack but I do agree we need a settled first eleven

The players looked lost I thought. Why play so many out position? There is a good team in there somewhere but Mowbray isn't picking it. He is overcomplicating things and trying to keep everyone happy.

My how quickly things change. What happened to the "In Tony we trust" mantra???

Two months ago TM was a demi-God & we were going to win the League according to many.

I am pleased I have a level headed approach to successes & failures. Expect too much & you're likely to be disappointed (especially if you're a City fan!), expect nothing & any success is so much sweeter!

...onwards & upwards PUSB

But we have the players not involved today who were the ones who gave us our great season until a few weeks ago? Why change it so much?
Surely lameries, Vincelot, Fleck, Job with Murphy and Arma should still all be starting? That's the more technically gifted side that got us results and had pace to burn.
So is TM saying Rose and others are better? Not convinced of that.

Get back to what we were doing. We had injuries but it was not in need of half a team change was it?

Fleck was playing his best football splaying the ball around b4 his suspension. madders was out the side and we had more success.
mentally we appear to have let players down. The first sign of a tinkering TM I have disagreed with. Not sure what he is doing but then gain it gets tough here on in, so is he working in a formula to get the job done? I'm not convinced but the next two games must work out for him to prove he sees what we all don't see.
Two wins would build confidence and settle the team for the run in. He has to make that happen now.

Trouble is we seem to have become overloaded with players for instance who can play the number 10 role but no one who
is an out and out right winger something we Sen to have missed since we lost Ryan Kent

Hopefully only one change next week Vincelot for Stephens

I would change a few and would leave out Stephens , Maddison and Fleck and bring in Henderson, hunt and Vincelot and go 4 4 2 and have a go

[h=2]Mowbrays Chopping and Changing[/h]Has to stop. Simple as that. <snip>.

How can you have a settled side when we just signed seven new players? And everyone on here has been screaming for him to fill the weak spots. And why sign players if you aren't going to play them. No-one should expect a settled side with injuries and suspensions and new players coming in. And can we please stop this nonsense about playing the same side that got us success at the beginning of the season. What worked then won't work now.

Lorentzson sounds like a long term injury according to the after match interview - so i suspect vincelot back in midfield - stephens centre back and ricketts right back

Yes we do, didn't think we would but we have

No we don't. He gave us nothing but false hope!
People loved to watch him run and beat players but he has zero end product and its useless to beat 3 players when you lose it 19 times out of 20 before making anything happen.

As for Mowbray, I think he did ok today. the 451 was useful to soak up the immense pressure. Kind of wish Henderson started up top instead of Madders as he could hold it up better and give us a target outlet and Murphy seemed like a lost puppy at times.
Overall, TM knew we would be under pressure early and often and set up for it. We contained them well and had Murphy and Arma as pacey wingers to take us out of trouble when we got it back, and that worked. Tactics were pretty good today and a point was a good result!

Next week though, we need to be MUCH more attacking in set up. Perfect game for a single holding mid and additional striker, let Fleck run the show infront of the back four and Lameiras in with Madders behind Arma.

No, that's the desperation glasses kicking in because we aren't playing well at the moment.

Kent offered nothing. What's the point in having an Olympic sprinter that could only run for 90 meteres every single time? Kent skinned a load of players and the crowd got excited, but nothing ever, ever came of it. He couldn't pass, cross or shoot and this imaginary space that was created when he drew players away was never exploited because he couldn't get the ball to a team mate.

A lot of talent but absolutely nothing to offer to a league 1 promotion chasing team. When Liverpool played Exeter and it was 2-2, both Exeters goals came when he gave away the ball at the opposite end of the pitch.

Really, we are missing nothing.

Similar pattern to SP, when things are not going well the criticism starts. I'd still trust TM over SP any day, TM has a track record of achieving promotion, SP has nothing.

Still unsure about the reasons for the downturn, but it has been pointed out that Andersons arrival coincided with loss of form, then we sold Maddison. I suspect there is a connection and the spirit in the dressing room has suffered.
