So Burge out for the season.
RCC shoulder injury that he's had for a while but no immediate concern.

Emergency loan will only be drafted in if RCC is out at any point as reluctant to play wages for loan to sit on the bench.

All in all having read the thread headline I was a lot more worried than the article has read as a whole.

The two week break has hopefully helped.

Not so sure we want Fleetwood to know RCC has a shoulder problem though.

This seems madness to tell everyone we have a half fit keeper and that we have no cover. Whats the betting fleetwood give rcc a few over the top challenges Saturday. If I was the opposition id be putting balls in the box at every opportunity and putting a big old fashioned forward on rcc

Just shows you what adversity we have to go though compared to the clubs above us! Burton has not had a serious injury all season , fucking typical:facepalm:

Cant see fleetwood putting the ball in the box too often more likely their two centre halfs trying to pass it each other and then losing it if Pressley has got into their heads.

A true Pressley side will have 0 shots on target so RCC should be fine Saturday.
( actually on second thoughts no shots on target was the plan when playing at home).

Knowing the City though, Fleetwood will have no shots on target but still win.

What I don't get is, why tell everybody he is injured?

If I knew an opposition goalie was injured I would try and exploit it as much as we could.

Strange one really even if you knew the Maddison money was due in 4/5 months. surely you could borrow a small amount against it for this emergency.
Also did we have an idea about this when we sold Maddison?

That Corey is absolutely woeful, no disrespect to the kid. Nowhere near League One standard.

Isn't the other African named goalkeeper supposed to be the big prospect think he's aged about 18 and stands over 6' 4" Years ago Les Sealey came in at that age when Jim Blythe got crocked, played the last 6 or 7 games in yet another desperate relegation scrap

His name is Corey Addai. I don't think he's ready to play yet but he definitely isn't woeful.

He is a second year academy scholar, which means he is trying to earn a professional contract this season.

CA said that TM had not been rejected any money for any player he wanted, so can't see any issue with the money. I Suppose it has to be the right signing for TM to ask for it.

Makes me wonder about what someone else said on her what if AA gets injured.
I was always quite relaxed thinking TM, MV and JC will sort it.
Then when Maddison was sold.
The silver lining I saw was that any unexpected injuries will now be dealt with no problems.

I believe that as well the club have supported him brilliantly from what I can see.
However it is him saying they have no money to bring in a back goalie. They can't uae the loan system as we have to many.
They would need to sign a free transfer and pay his wages and there is no money to do it.

No money ? Where have JOBs wages gone then ?

Forgot about that, unless they knew he was going when they signed three most recent signings.
It is the JM money that intrigues me more.
Hopefully it has been set aside for next year and can't be touched till then for some reason.
I don't like the idea of us having to play an injured goalie though.
1) for the lads future he should not be playing injured.
2) it potentially is now and identified weakness.

I assume the club are just waiting to see and if they get no choice they will bring someone in.

To be fair in the article, TM’s logic makes sense. We use Addai on the bench – he fills in for the rest of the game if RCC is sent off/injured, and we can then act fast to bring in (ideally) a free transfer as there a couple of unattached players knocking about, or an emergency loan. Worst case scenario means we’ll have 7 loans then, but not much we can do about that.

Hopefully RCC stays fit for the rest of the season.

Just when I start to feel confident again something like this comes out, as said, why advertise it? there's absolutely no benefit in telling the whole world if we have to play him anyway. Its almost as if excuses are being got in early in case things go wrong.
I know TM says we have no money for wages, but surely a better plan would be to find a good enough free agent on a short term contract and play him, giving RCC time to fully recover. I'm sure we could afford 1 month's pay for an older free agent (ex-premiership?) keeper. TM says there are a couple around.

Joe murphy anyone ?
chesterfield loaned him last season so surely we can match their wages percentage and hes getting splinters on the bench at huddersfield

Is this a bluff to get teams to attack us a bit more rather than sitting back and defending as their fans will think injured goalie and attack

Two reasons would be:

Protecting RCC, and probably himself, should RCC have a bad game at Fleetwood.

Putting pressure on SISU for more money (more likely).

Tbf I was only wondering as recent as yesterday 'where's Burge' as he's not in the u21's team, so this article was pleasing to read for me as I no longer have to wonder this :)

Not that I lost any sleep mind!

I can see his logic though in not looking to bring in anyone at this point, but will do if the worst happens.

Not sure it'll matter much to Pressley mind as his counter tactics were never always much cop here so doubt he'll read as much into this as we all are ;)

Mowbray has clearly said they will get one if RCC is unavailable, so there is money there in an emergency. I'm guessing its just not seen as value for money bringing someone in if he never plays a game.

I'm not particularly worried, I think we could get an adequate keeper on loan if needed.

Exactly, think its just the way he's said it or the way its been written. He doesn't want to bring in a loan to sit on the bench as that would mean leaving another loan out and there's no point signing and paying someone for the rest of the season who won't even make it on the pitch. We can put a kid on the bench for an emergency and if the worst happens get a free agent in.

Why would TM say we have a couple of million to spend then let other clubs hold us to ransom??? makes sense to me play your cards close
