Doesn't this just go to highlight how dangerous rugby is?

American Football is dangerous enough and that's even with the helmets and all the padding. Could rugby eventually head the same way?

The problem is with the padding you think you can hit the players harder and that's where the injuries come from.
Obviously in American Football there is a lot of off the ball as well which is difficult to keep a handle on.

If you look at other sports like american football and ice hockey until you reach a relatively senior level there is no contact. Rugby should really be the same.

How many school PE teachers are qualified to detect and treat concussions?

Mine too. Spoil sports!

I do to a degree agree that Rugby is a dangerous sport. However, tag rugby we played at times at school seemed pretty pointless. How are kids going to learn how to play the sport properly if you take elements of it out of the training?

Something is going to be done. The NFL have been looking at this issue recently and have determined the younger you are the more likely you are to get concussions (and that's with all the protective gear). Think it was something like a high school student was twice as likely to get a concussion as a college student.

Quite frankly play it or don't play it. I'd prefer my lad wasn't running around like a fanny playing some kind of tig.
Stop tackling in football as well. Cricket use a tennis ball and hand the ball back don't throw it. Athletics, don't think so all that running and jumping is fraught with danger. Hockey, that can go to.

IT is the same as in schools where it isn't about winning or losing now. There are no winners.

It should be banned just based on the stupid shape of the 'ball'.

Are kids going to end up soft though? :(

What exactly does that mean? Does that imply that 'hard' is better than 'soft'?
