I get the argument that our overall record and our position at the end of the season are both likely to be better than last season. that is of course an improvement and would have been good enough for me before the season started.

However from where we were a couple of months ago its pretty much a disaster. To go from top of the league to on the verge of dropping out of the play offs is not good in anyones book. And the 'we're building for next year' argument doesn't really work when pretty much none of the players will still be here.

Blow it this season and we're back to square one.
'Disaster' will indeed sum it up.

Does anybody think we will turn this around and still make the top 6?

Yes! But only if TM has a rethink.

This must include:

Resting Ricketts, even just for a couple of games. He is completely out of form and getting more support to Armstrong.

We just don't look like the same team as early in the season. Have we been found out ? Are we predictable ?
Do teams now all know we've going to play the ball out, and close us down more quickly. Obvious most of our players can't take the pressure and we lose possession too easily.

<snip>

(1) We aren't the same team, we now have many different players.
(2) We have been found out. Other teams know how to nullify our strengths and exploit our weaknesses. We, however, do not seem to be able to do the same to our opponents.
(3) We are too predictable in the sense that you can predict RCC will make mistakes and you can predict we will defend set pieces poorly. All of our opponents know this.

<snip> it has to be seen as <snip> a platform to build on for next season<snip>

The problem with us having a 'platform to build on', is that next season, we may not have the platform.

9 losses so far this season. Last season we lost 17.

<snip>
There's losses and then there's draws you should have won, which are equally as bad as losses in my opinion.

Mate this league is the most unpredictable league, the results we see on a weekly basis are bonkers.

few points: who would have predicted:

Barnsley going on a run of 10 wins out of 12 after losing previous 10 out of 12 or whatever the exact figures are.

Posh were awful for first half dozen games, then brilliant for next 20 and now losing 5 on the bounce.

Bradford at home vs Colchester was a certainty home banker.

Gillingham and Wallsall have also only won about 2 of their last 10 games.

I could carry on and on, just a bonkers league.

Its unlikely but but who's to say we can't win the next 10 in a row!!!

The table doesn't lie, we are 6th on MERIT.

3rd most goals scored, and second highest goal difference!!

I think most people can take a defeat as long as the players put the required effort in and give it their best shot.

What really pees fans off is sub standard performances. You can try your best and not have a good game, but to seemingly not put the required effort in is not acceptable.

I'll be there on Saturday, but I can understand why many will not.

The difference/problem to me is that at the beginning of the season we had madders, kent, murphy, lameiras, job, all coming on for 20 mins or so hungry and making an impact now , now they seem to play most of the game or not at all , the bench just isn't pushing the players on the pitch ,add that to the fact we still try to play the same way , yes we have been sussed out , this rolling the ball out to the fullbacks even when they are marked , is like when Strachan was in charge , and everyone could see things we not working ,,but his pride wouldn't allow him to change , hope mobary doesn't go down that line

There is little doubt he is very stubborn and inflexible. Look how long he persisted with Fortune when everyone could see he offered nothing.
We can only hope he knows the players better than we do. But I was not very impressed with his substitutions in the past two games where he first threw 3 players on at once and then threw two players on at once. That looks like sheer desperation to me.

The three players on I was happy about and it worked. We were losing one nil and because of the three subs coming on, we equalised.

Looked like we might just snatch the win too and you can't blame any of the subs for their winner. It was Armstrong who lost the ball in the middle of the park and it was also a great strike.

It was a brave move by TM and it nearly paid off.

And having a quick look on the Walsall forum, seems their fans are sharing the same anxieties as us

I suspect Gillingham would be the same.

It's a roller coaster for most teams every season. We'll end up where we deserve to end up...

My point exactly, the teams at the bottom, fleetwood, Chesterfield, Oldham and even Crewe since we beat them have improved.

Crazy league.
