Wheres It Gone Wrong? (1 Viewer)

Over the past couple of months, City's form has slumped big time. But why has the promotion campaign gone off the boil? For this weeks Cooks Question, i want your opinions on why the sky blue train has hit the buffers. The best answers will be read out on Sports Lounge with Liam Cook, Thursday from 10am on 98.6 Hillz FM. You can also catch the show on demand via my mixcloud page from 1pm on Thursday. Couple of.months? Plenty of opinions through the threads
Yep. Since November, so more than a couple.

Opposition teams studied us, set out to stifle us and have succeeded.

We have had no answer. For me it is that simple.

Mogga only has one game plan and he doesn't have th3 tactical ability to change things around.

Also the signings in general have been poor. Too much knee jerk signings in Jan.

Not in any order here is where we have gone wrong:

1. We lost Kent and with him pace from our attack
2. We have had suspensions to key players
3. We had dressing room antics going on and JOB a player on the fringes was let go?
4. Murphy blows very hot and cold and without Kent is our only real pace in wide areas
5. We sold Maddison upsetting the fans and no doubt making the players question the ambition of the club. Mowbray may be hack off with how it was hanled too and this effected the players?

Who really knows tbh. All I know is were slipping down the table and it needs sorting by TM or the board if we loose 3 more in a row.

The loss of Big Ben and Aaron Martin, and then Ryan Kent going back to Liverpool

Not bringing in atleast one more forward soon enough, not enough goals from midfield, unlucky with succession of injuries to centre halves and thinking an 18 years old with less than 20 games first team experience is the bees knees and will propel us to glory

1) re-signing Reda Johnson
2) Ben turners injury
3) too much unnecessary tinkering to the team. Eg lamieres MOTM vs sheff United, dropped for the next game
4) not bringing in another younger forward
5) panicking and signing too many old players -> it's this that has changed the dynamic of the squad in and around the training ground not Kent leaving.
6) replacing Kent with Hunt instead of brining in someone with pace
7) lack of plan b
8) Mowbray's stubbornness not to change formation and play 2 up top
9) reliance on Armstrong and Murphy for goals not helped by signing forwards like fortune who have a terrible career goal record
10) it creating enough chances away from home for Armstrong -> he's scored in just 2 away games all season
11) selling hands Maddison
12) shipping JOB out.
13) whilst he does tinker, he also keeps players he likes in the team regArdless of poor form (Ricketts and murphy)
14) on the flip side he too easily discards other players ( where Phillips disappeared to?)

I agree about the cups, bit disappointing and doesn't give us much hope if we make the play offs. Top 10 and a JPT win would have been a good season but we've only had the league to worry about so anything less than the top 6 is a dissapointment.

TM's three biggest mistakes:
Relying on Burge and then RCC as our main GK
Resigning Reda (A HUGE mistake)
Signing Joe Cole

After that, I agree with the posters who said we have been found out and have no answer to our opponents exploiting our weaknesses and nullifying our strengths.
I also don't believe our squad is anywhere near as good as a lot of people think it is.
And I don't think Mowbray is a good a manager as a lot of people think he is.

So it's a combination of things and not just one thing that can easily be 'fixed'. That's why I don't foresee any sudden dramatic turnaround in form.

Well yeah, if we were playing quite well but losing I could foresee a change in our fortunes, but we are playing poorly and losing.

As I said on another thread, Barnsley lost 8 in a row, but word was that they were playing well, even though they kept being defeated.

We have been doing nothing of the sort. We have lost 7 out of the last 10 and though apparently, we played better on Tuesday, we played very poorly against Southend, Barnsley, Scunthorpe, Fleetwood and very average at best against Rochdale and Burton.

Think there's only been Sheff Utd where we can say we lost but deserved to win.
