Brody says... (1 Viewer)

Here is another little snippett

My lads club contacted CCFC to see if there were any deals for junior clubs...... part of the deal suggested was if we got 200 (paying punters)to a game we could have the pitch to play on for an hour. We didnt like the offer in total and said so only to be told that the club thought it was a great offer as it would cost us £5000 to use the pitch normally (at least that was the value they put on it)

so do the maths if we apply that to CCFC
£5000 per hour just for the pitch
use of stadium by CCFC is say 10 hours on a match day
26 matches say in a year

= £1.3m

So using their own sales talk how exactly are ACL overcharging CCFC at £1.2m for the use of the stadium as a whole (pitch, offices (24/7), changing rooms, club shop (24/7), bar and restaurant facilities) ?

Brody said about his leaving the board
As for his personal targets when he first took on the role last December, he admitted: “The goal for me was two things – first look at the day to day operation and look at how we could bring more people into the facility and secondly how we could do a better job of communicating and involving fans.
“I don’t think we have done nearly a good enough job of that yet and there have been a bunch of reasons why.
"There is an incredible amount of work still to be done there and I am not happy at all with the result we have achieved on that front.”

He talks about HIS goal when he first came and then how he failed
Strange how the failure bits become a collective 'WE'

Stop trying to blame the council , the fans or anyone else. You have acheived nothing in your time here, just go and take the rest of your buddies with you

Iggy Oggy said in his September video interview
  • that SISU would "work together with the fans",
  • that "there was a good bunch of people running the club",
  • that he was "was willing to talk with new investors",
  • that "the Premiership was the goal, but first the club needed stable foundations",
  • that SISU needed to tell the fans "what we are doing, how we are doing it and where we want to take the football club"

(These are not all word for word quotes, but reflect what he said accurately as I understood it)

A lot of words but the only one of these statements they seem to be working towards is the "stable foundations" bit, which I understand means cutting costs till the club is no longer making a loss. Although I remain to be convinced by just words & I'm waiting to see the accounts which should be publically available at the end of Feburary before I believe anything the man says.

As for Brody's statement, he basically said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, isn't that an admission his own misjudgement? However he does seem to have understood the club is a child of the community and not a transferable franchise operation, I'll give him that. On the other hand he talks about a 20,000 fan base, Coventry have not had that since the late 60's and early 70's and that was only when the club was successful in getting promoted to the top tier and staying there and the City had practically full employment, a radically different situation than we have today.

In fairness we had a 20k fan base when Sisu took over.

I see the club have issued another "Statement" this afternoon seeming to distance themselves from Brody regarding the cost of rent at the Ricoh. Wanging on about trying to prove to all Ricoh shareholders that they have will have the finances & management ability to be involved..
As stated above the Council must make sure SISU NEVER gets to own a single brick of the Ricoh..

it has been a while since we had a statement. think they must have been worried that some of what Brody said made sense and could even have been true. wouldn't want the board to be associated with anything like that.

what odds on a statement after the loan windows about how hard we tried to bring someone in?!

They bought the company and took over all its commitments as they stood. They could have asked to renegotiate 4 years ago but didnt so you have to assume they were happy enough with the rent then. SISU dont have a case really but they can ask. The agreement is with CCFC and ACL

Its poisened ,the relationship between us and them ,there is an element of validity in the remark, but the issue is never likely to be resolved while they hold the riegns,we pay circa £1.2m from what i believe so similar to others in our division ,but we don't recieve matchday streams don't know if they do ,these streams will be vital in determining our turnover when the new rules come in and affect what we're allowed to spend .Man City pay £3 m. for the use of the eithad, but there income from being in the prem is prob 20 times ours and i bet they retain there streams ,so on a pro-rata basis they would pay £24m. to rent, our situation is unbalanced and one day has to be addressed .Tis a subject dear to my heart and ican only imagine to satisfy all parties the Stadium becomes seperated from the rest of the operation, leaving ACL/COUNCIL with the rest of the developement and operations leaving no risk of an asset stripping excercise,£50m. should do it,and they can put on their concerts for anominal fee.

The Brody statement followed by the board statement are both just "positioning" statements for when they eventually do meet to discuss purchasing 1/2 of the Ricoh, with the hope that it will also bring fans pressure onto the council hence smoothing the way for Sisu.

Obvious Corporate positioning IMO, and badly thought out. It has the KD smell all over of it.

rightly or wrongly Brody talking about the problem shows no one is working together!!! As football is a team game we should all be working together to get everything in order for the club to take the strides forward it needs! When will any one involved with the football club (the council,ACL,SISU,etc) standup and say you know what lets draw a line in the sand and work together! The fact that has never happened in the 6 yrs we have been at the ground shows we will never progress!!! The ACL guy coming on the radio and saying they could live without the football club shows how stupid the whole situation has got!!!

Everyone wants sisu out, but when u have got unwilling to help situation organisations like the council and ACL we will never progress, its like they dont want a football club in the City at all!!!

SISU maybe the problem in the foreground but we have bigger problems behind them, far in the background!!!

What a cracking post, summing up in just a few lines, why people are staying away, which is mistrust in any thing Sisu Finance, say, do, or fail to do.
And as far as the council go, they invested, council tax payers money,in what at the time seemed like a risky venture, in order to guarantee that the stadium would be built, the same applies to the Alan Higgs trust.
Why should these custodians of the public purse, and charities,, give up their holdings in the "Arena" to an ever changing face of Directors, and off shore money Launderers
Who would without doubt, cream off the top of any incoming revenue.
lets not lose sight of the fact, that sisu/Finance, are not in the least interested in the fate of CCFC, if they could earn more by taking us down, then they would allow us to go down, And please save me the howls, about the Millions that was spent "allegedly" giving Ryton a coat of paint...
as far as let em get their grubby hands on the deeds to the arena!..."DO WHAT" LEAVE IT OUT JOHN, youre avin a Larf

Since brody isnt a director anymore, surely it means that his shares could be available to purchase. If the hoff wants the club (or the Hoff's backers) then they should buy brody and get a seat on the board. Bit like what happened at arsenal when kronkae bought another person out. Or am I making this too simple and missing something big out

you dont have to have shares to be a director nor do you have to be a director to have shares. Him resigning doesnt mean his shares are available.

Think you would also find that any share sales have to be approved by the other remaining shareholders so it isnt an opportunity for Hoffman & co at all

It's a lovely thought. If Len has actually fallen out with Ken and Onye, I suppose it's possible...nah, them lot are thick as thieves, I tells ye! This is probably just another classic Len foot-in-mouth and egg-on-face faux pas. It's what he does. Comes from not having a clue about soccer. How he can claim to give a fig when he hasn't even seen a single game of ours..and even his explanation of that was botched! What's a "no game day"? Oh, that's right, it's a phrase from American sports like baseball (160plus game seasons). It doesn't translate! My, what a fitting epitaph.

Lets get a few things clear
...

...and we can all stop talking about the Sisunomics of the situation because that post says it all. No great conspiracies, no devious financial instruments, just that our lovely ground and relatively reasonable rent (for what is provided) is simply too big for us on our attendance revenues. No one can fix that without major investment to secure a Premiership Berth, which might (still not guaranteed) get attendances and gate revenues up to a level that can sustain the business and leave the TV Revenues to cover the ridiculous payroll requirements in the EPL.

Sisu agreed new terms of rent a couple of years ago so they have agreed the figured that brodt talks about

who would want to buy 10% or whatever he owns of something that has no value unless you own it outright.

He hasn't sold because his shares are worthless unless someone offers more than a £1 to someonewho buys all the shares 100%

That doesn't mean anything, just because they negotiated say 10% off the cost because that's all ACL will budge doesn't mean they didn't want or need a bigger reduction.

Please try to stick to logic here guys, there's plenty of actual things to be pissed off about, twisting words and stretching logic just weakens our argument, not strengthens it.

Same for those desperate to make Brody sound like a no nothing idiot, when in fact he's never shown anything of the sort. Just because the guy uses a different vocabulary to you doesn't mean his points don't stand. Argue the facts not the words used to express them.

Second that.

What Facts would anyone like to argue? Are any in question worthy of debate? Seriously, what's the purpose of the reasoned tone? I appreciate manners maketh man but it's all a bit rich saying we should watch our words with this lot. Firstly it's almost heartbreaking to think you might for the briefest moment think they are listening, and secondly appreciate the irony - all the likes of Brody put in were words, no visible gameplan or commitment, cheap talk and poorly executed spin was all anyone got, his pronouncements today smacking once more of Brody Foot in Mouth disease. Let those that care and hurt vent for Gods sake, we won't flatter ourselves into thinking anyone is listening.

So that's two of us who've called it Brody Foot in Mouth Disease. It'll be turning up in a dictionary soon; kinda like a modern, football version of Mrs Mallaprop! (Sheridans "The Rivals".) Mrs Miggins in Blackadder II is slightly based on her :)
