Answer - they have played in our first team since relegation.

This raises a few points:

1) turnover - no wonder we have found it hard to be consistent, we are averaging an average of 25 new players PER SEASON - partly this is a result of 4 permanent managers in this time, but that itself is part of the problem. I wonder how many other clubs have had player turnover at this rate.

2) how many of the players in tht list were actually much good? Half of them I can't even picture, now. This must raise questions over recruitment - we appear to have had a quantity over quality recruitment policy at times

3 ) most of the best players were either home grown - Turner, Maddison, Wilson, or have been allowed to leave at inopportune times or for less than we should have got for them. If we'd held onto the strongest players from this list, we could be on the cusp of the Premier by now. Instead, as Anderson implies, we have tried to bridge the gap in finances by accepting offers from other clubs - but this itself means we are unable to continuously improve the squad, meaning we stay in League One, meaning the deficit remains. If we held onto Maddison, Wilson, etc we may well be more profitable and have a stronger squad, and be much higher up the league ladder.

Shaun Jeffers never played for us in League 1. Cian Harries, Leon Lobjoit (released) and Joe Henderson (released) also haven't. Pretty sure Roy O'Donovan left the year before too.

Lawton, Spence and Lateef played in the JPT but not the league.

I don't think Stuart Urquhart made any first team appearances?

Would be interesting to see the average for the past same amount of years for other L1 clubs to see how we compare.

For the hell of it, the best side out of that lot;

Murphy
Christie, Turner, Pennington, Stokes
Baker, Fleck, Vincelot, Moussa
Wilson, Armstrong

Subs

O'Brien
Murphy
Maddison
Clarke
Martin
Reda
RCC

We'd have won the league already with that lot.

What's the best team you could make out of that lot?

Mine would be:

Murphy

Christie
Reda
Turner
Stokes

Grant Ward
Vincelot
Fleck
Moussa

McGoldrick
Wilson

That would get you out of this league no worries.

Lee Carsley?

Nah, last game was when we were in the Champ, Sheff U home I think it was...

This is first team appearances, including squad appearances i.e. being an unused sub as well as the JPT, which takes care of all except Henderson. I thought you were right but Soccerbase said he played for us once in 2012/13. Rod played a hanful of League games for us in league 1 including the MK Dons away game when he was subbed on around the time of Moussa's goal and Steve Elliot's only good game for us.

What's the best team you could make out of that lot?

Mine would be:

Murphy

Christie
Reda
Turner
Stokes

Grant Ward
Vincelot
Fleck
Moussa

McGoldrick
Wilson

That would get you out of this league no worries.

How about the worst team??

Reda has had so many parts replaced, he should really count for two players.
