Yet again we persist with a player so one footed on the wrong wing. I've heard on the phone on and seen on here his performance lauded as MoM but really didn't see it. Cut inside, didn't read passes and played it backwards (like everyone else!). I want to see quick wide players beating a man, getting to the byline and whipping a cross in.

He's only 18 and obviously been asked to play there so not having a pop at him, but he is not the new messiah and created nothing imo.

He got a few crosses in, nobody there though.

He couldn't play on the left as Murphy obviously wanted to play there today.

Would be much better on the left to whip it straight in

Good full debut for a young player that I can see will develop into a huge Sky Blue favourite ⚽️

Whip it in to the missing Fortune who is probably standing/hiding on the wing himself.

I thought he showed glimses, the lads got ability but needs to learn to mix it up a bit. He only went round the outside twice in 90 mins preferring to constantly cut in on his left foot. And his positioning on the ball was to predictable. He looks like another one who wants to come deep to get on the ball so he can turn and run with the ball. There were numerous occasions he should have been making a run in behind the full back off the ball but just dropped deeper and deeper to pick the ball so he could turn and dribble infield. He's only young but needs to learn when too come deep when too make a run in behind, when to cut inside, when to go outside, etc.

That being said he looks like a talent and will be a good signing.

Give it 6 months and he will be dead wood.

Woukd you tell ronaldo to stop cutting inside???? It's clearly his game and it clearly works. Was prob our best player today. Certainly looked most dangerous

1 of the few plus points.

Strange thread indeed

Probably. He's loved by the fans, so that'll probably go to his head. He'll think he's the dogs bollocks, try a bit of showboating. He'll end up either having his leg broken, or having a few bad games trying to do too much and we'll all turn on him and hound him into a shell of insecurity.

On the plus side, Murphy prob won't be here next year, so stick him on the left wing.

The good thing about a left footed player on the right wing is he can cut inside and shoot. He did that a couple of times on Friday, but against Colchester all we got was one rugby style conversion, that I assume was a shot.

I wouldve liked inked to see him swapped around, particularly when Rubens came on.

I thought he needed to be 20/30 yards further up the pitch playing off there full back but for me he was to deep.

Both wings were too deep realy, playing against sides like Colchester and when they set thei stalls out to park the bus you need to turn them at every opportunity but i am afraid to say TM is to defensive minded to go for it even though the season is all but exstinguished

You saw their wingers do it properly. Especially number 11

Was thinking the same. He was the only player finding and making space to recieve the ball in the first place so he didn't have to get rid of it quick and made some good runs with the ball at his feet pretty much everytime he had the ball. I thought he looked a bit one dimmensional and might be able to run down the wing aswell as cut inside if he played on the opposite wing but overall for a young lad who's just arrived from non league it was a good performance and although not saying much probably was our man of the match.

worth noting that he created a great assist in u21 from byline from right side

but hey OP knows best clearly

The U21's probably weren't stood on the halfway line watching him do tricks and wondering why he has to stop, check and pass it back because nobody is up with him. :)

I thought Jones was excellent last night. The only time we really looked like threatening them last night was when Jones started the move. He looks like he tries to get the ball forward a bit quicker than the rest of the team.
Every time the ball was on the left side any attack stopped as soon as Ricketts got the ball, turned back and passed it backwards. It reminded me of Pennington playing at fullback last night as he was always the oppositions best defender and stopped any attack we were making dead in its tracks.
