Slim chance of promotion next year (2 Viewers)

I think this season was the best chance we had of getting out of this league.

The clubs coming down next season with the parachute payments are between Fulham, Bolton, MK Dons and Charlton. Plus add the 3 team this season in the play off who won't get through. Might as well chuck in teams who get promoted from L2 who will have a winning mentality.

Will be a tough league next season and L1 will be more competitive than before.

Agree, this season was our best chance. We wont have an Adam Armstrong next season but hopefully we will have a much better goal keeper and will put away the penalties we get. We are probably destined to stay in L1 for many years and last season wont be the only relegation fight we have.

Yep. Totally agree.

This was the season. I don't think we should be building our hopes up next season too much and I think we could be here for quite some time yet.

We had it in our grasp this year and after being top 6 all year long really should have consolidated our place.

Best chance ever for us, this.

Not so sure on Bolton, who have had a horrendous time of things, but Fulham would be red hot favourites, as would MK Dons. Charlton always seem to be strong at this level.

Once again Sheff United will be touted as a strong contender and one out of Millwall and Bradford should be up there too.

Would say that this season is also the best ever chance for Gillingham and Walsall too. They don't go up and I think they too could suffer next time out.

Also, to add to the strength of the league, there is invariably a team that comes up from League Two who then challenge at the higher level (Burton this year, Chesterfield the season before).

Would fully expect Northampton to have good season on the back of their strolling through League Two and if Portsmouth come up they could be strong too.

We are really going to have to go some and recruit brilliantly to be up there challenging next season.

Makes this season's dramatic fall from grace all the more galling.

We need some great business in the summer and uncover some real gems.

We don't even know what our team will look like next year so lets not write off our chances before this season has even ended.

It's difficult to judge at this stage as you don't know who will be in the league yet and what business they will do.

Indeed.

As I say, we ourselves need to do very good business to be up there. But of course we knew that anyway, what with losing so many in the summer.

Can't help but cast one eye over the bottom of the Championship to see who we might be facing next year.

Because there were not 3 relegated and 3 promoted last year?

But it's all down to who comes down isn't it.

Think we all knew that Wigan were going to be right up there challenging this season. We also knew that Blackpool might struggle.

You just need to look at the infrastructure of clubs to give you some inkling as to what might well happen. Nothing is cast in stone, but you have to assume that Fulham, if they were to come down, would be huge favourites for League One.

If it were Rotherham, then perhaps not so.

Which clubs come down and come up can make all the difference.

This should be made sticky and stay at top, just so if by some miracle we have a great start we will fall again as next year will be our toughest and most important. Sisu will cut wage again Mowbray will get no.money and we will struggle

Charlton are a mess of a club at the moment.

Bolton, also another mess of a club

Fulham- red hot favourites.. maybe but people said they would get back to the prem immediately yet that didn't happen, they have no consistency for managers- but doubt these will go down mind you.

MK dons- aren't a big club, will lose key players, will no doubt be up there but wouldn't see them as favourites.

Rotherham- who you missed out, aren't a big club and are similar to Yeovil imo.

Northampton- i think may be up there agree.

Oxford and Plymouth ( as it stands) i don't seem the challenging in league one not in first season.

Next year think battle for top 6 will be:

Sheff United
Bradford, Barnsley and millwall (if not promoed)
Cov
Mk dons, fulham (if relegated)
Northampton
Maybe someone like rochdale

I see Gillingham and walsall, losing any key players they have if they don't go up tbh, years building their team, ruined by not going up (especially in walsall's case)
There will undoubtedly be a surprise package, but i don't see us having any less chance next year than we had this year.
