If we can keep up that standard of performance we won't keep losing, sooner or later results reflect performances. In the short term we may want to play rubbish but win but that is not a long term solution as Boothroyd showed last year.
If performances are CONSISTENTLY good the results will follow.

We've had this debate a million times. Some people seem to think that long ball=results and passing=defeats. Well Adams and Boothroyd proved that isn't the case, as have Swansea, Blackpool, Norwich and WBA when getting promoted from this division. If you want to do it the Stoke way, you need one hell of a squad of brutes to make it happen. Stoke had that, and WH do too in addition to some class in the likes of Nolan and Noble (not to mention 2 of those ex-Stoke brutes!)

hes got the held up cross perfect,and the drill,just curling cross he needs to work on

i kno were 6pts adrift but im much happier now than i was at 3pm, we play like that we will win games

saying that WHU played simply footy,i still think cardiff might rip us apart,time will tell.

Yea both styles can produce good performances and results if you have the personal and belief in the style.
It is just people who always bang on about results and they would rather win playing badly. As a season pans out you can't play bad and win for the whole season, results will reflect performances so for me get good consistent performances first and results will follow the good performances in the long term.

Agreed, we got the balance almost spot-on. We had so many "almost" chances...WH scored from two of theirs. Thems the breaks.

Most players put in a solid performance. But towards the end of the game just about everyone had times when they lost their consistancy, that is what let us down ultimately & WHU made some penetrating attacks, mostly on their left, that is presumably why Cyrus got took off, I never texted that one in.

Overall Juke was a bit off the pace compared to recent performances.
Clingan seemed to lack a bit of vision, made some poor choices when passing.
Gael was very sharp early on, but misplaced a few passes & got bypassed by WHU a bit too easily later on.
Thomas if anything was more consistant than the others.
Baker did well when he came on.
I think Sheffs was taken off to ensure he didn't pick up that 2nd booking, he wasn't really flagging.

The sad truth is that had we played with anything like the intensity we did today in certain other games we would have had at least 8 more points than we now have.
It is the first time this season that I have seen the team collectively "up" for the game. Clingan was inspirational in midfield and there was real desire.
Shame we haven't shown that until now and I suspect will not in the next match.
I still think with a real football manager in charge even this squad should be better then the 12 points we have amassed so far.

Completely disagree. The credit goes to Thorn for re-energising the players and getting both the starting XI and the tactics spot on. We lost partly due to luck, individual errors perhaps, but ultimately because we had a weaker bench IMO. Bringing on a player of Coles class just emphasised the difference between the two managers resources. And yes, Thorn is a manager.

I agree with NLHWC.
IMO Thorn has done a fantastic job picking the players up and getting them ready for this game after recent results.
We were yet again up against players a lot better than ours But it's down to Thorn that we gave it a real go.

I just think it is a shame that it has taken this long into the season before we have been up for it and showed any passion and fire and closed and harried the opposition.

Some reasonable ratings given here which were well deserved for effort and commitment but some and in particular the younger lads were exposed by their inexperience and composure at crucial times but the whole team looked lacking in confidence in their ability to hold on. We were in front and deserved to be so, but after the referee's howler in the equalizer there was sadly only ever to be one winner. Difficult to score highly so many player when we have lost at home and in our current position but equally difficult to say that anyone had a bad game we're just simply not quite good enough. I thought Keogh and Clingan stood out if only for their bravery.
