Since Dublin, is there a player we can genuinely class as 'legend'?

I don't mean 'very good' or 'fantastic for half a season' but... is there anybody in the same vein as him, Peake, Ferguson...?

When you mention legend it usually ends up as a favourite or popular player doesn't it ? The likes of Curtis,Hudson,Hutchison, come to mind, but to be honest not one springs to mind since them.

It depends if you define this over hyped term purely by ability or also include loyalty and longevity of service.

To a degree.

But it's also someone who you can't help but admire for either their guts, or the way they drag a team up from nothing.

Dublin was never my favourite player but my God, you couldn't help but admire just how much extra he gave the team, how we always had a puncher's chance of a result with him there.

Killer wasn't a great player and, OK, he was helped by being in a cup winning side, but there was someone hard as nails who was there season after season, who brought character to the team and the club.

Struggling to think even of personalities. And those we have move on quick, before they get a chance to make a true name for themselves!

Reda is a cult figure when he's fit and having a impact on the pitch. There's a sense of belief at corners when he struts up.
Mo konjic. Was a bit of a warrior type, used to get the crowd going when he surged forward.

Keane's the only one I'd even consider based on shortness of service, because he was *that* good.

But he wasn't even here for a full season, so it's hard to class him as legend really.

Same as McAllister. One good season does not a legend make.

He was crap so ability means nothing then?

I said he wasn't a bad shout.
Wh
at Konjic did have was character, and the ability to drive the mood of a team and a club. Probably not around long enough to compensate for his ability or otherwise, but he was probably at the same level for the team he was in, as Kilcline was for his.

Kilkline was a good defender

Could have been a few legends this season, but they have thrown it away and will be forever known as a bottle job.

I guess Oggy would be classed as a legend for the club. Joined us in 1984, played over 500 games (even scored a goal!) and is still here 32 years later as goal keeping coach. Can't think of anyone else who has done that for the club?

You could use the word Cult instead of legend ? Speedie was a cult for us wasn't he ? Defenders and opposition players called him that, well it sounded like a cult !

Richard Shaw is probably as close as it could get since Dublin.

Depends what you class as a legend. Is it loyalty? Is it ability? Both?

Nothing since dubs in my opinion. If your talking Keane you could easily put in other players that were here for one season I.e. Scott Dann etc

others that would be close if not there would be bugsy, Roland neilson and macca. Clearly the club gave adebola that status a few months back also!
