Does anyone on here or yourself regularly watch the u21's or u18's?
Has Bas shined that much to warrant a place in match day squad? Also how far away is anyone to impact on the 1st team.

Yes I do watch the U18s and U21s, I believe AGSB15 and AndyM (I think he's Maddison's uncle) do too but they don't post much anymore. If you want to follow then there's a U18/U21 development thread on here which is active.

No, he hasn't, in my opinion. The U18s league is a poor standard this year compared to previous years. He's a second year scholar and has scored 13 goals in the league, Ronan Hale (Birmingham City, first year scholar) and Ben Brereton (Nottingham Forest, first year scholar) have scored 26 goals each, so Sambou's goal tally isn't that impressive compared to the other (younger) strikers in the league. He's recently been starting for the U21s and has only found the net twice, albeit in a struggling team.

From the pros currently at the club I'd say Cian Harries has a good chance of breaking through this year especially as it looks like Ramage, Johnson and Ricketts won't be kept on. He's fantastic technically but still needs to improve his physical game.

In the younger age groups there's Darragh Leahy (CB/LB, been offered a pro contract) who's captain of the U18s and has impressed with the U21s but is injured at the moment. We signed him from St Kevin's Boys, an Irish Junior club, about a year back. He also represents Republic of Ireland at U18 level.

I don't think he'll be near the first team next season but Kyle Finn (1st year scholar, wide player) is a very good player. He has that ability that I haven't seen in many of our young players and that's the ability to ease past a defender either side of them. Think he's got 8 goals from the wing this season and obviously goalscoring wingers are worth their weight in gold.

So his 13 goals is not really much in comparison if players in other clubs are notching 26. And I'm imagining a few of those were pens too. Is he to confident for his own good or poorly advised in your opinion.

Guys he hasn't been at the club since under 11s; ironically I was playing for his Sunday League team at that time. In fact he wasn't actually signed up until Under 15s (start of Year 10), I remember it well as I was playing in the school game he got scouted in.

He could either show him how he now struggles to make the squad of a L1 team, or show him his bank balance...

We have to accept we are very much a minnow club now, competing with the Rochdales, Scunthorpes and Chesterfields of the division for a mid table position. All clubs will know all the young prodigies of league clubs and if there's one real starlet at Cov or similar club the bigger fish will gobble them up cheaply, get them on their books, loan them out for a year or so see how they fare and take it from there. If for example this Kyle Finn looks the part in a year or two we will struggle to hang on to him when the pro. contracts are being dished out. We can all mention players who have moved up to a bigger stage and disappeared but then you can also look at Daniel Sturridge and he will probably say getting away from us was for him the right decision. For all these youngsters football is their living and earning as much as possible a real attraction, they are also normally very confident types who believe they have what it takes to be the next big star and Bassala Sambou will believe it too, and also believe being in and around better players will help not hinder. As said we are now very much a minnow club nowadays hard pill to swallow, and I fear will remain so unless our owners significantly change the way they run out club or the owners change. Anyone out there who doesn't believe what I have said I'll say two words, James Maddison, just 20 odd games but a bit of a dribble here, body swerve there, 3 or 4 goals and fresh from a busted ankle Norwich, bit of a small fry Prem wise shell out a few million for him.

tbf Armtrong is almost a year older than Sambou so he is a year ahead of Sambou in development, who is to say next season Sambou wouldn't be doing what Armstrong done for us if he stayed.

Also worth noting that Amstrong is exceptional for his age, he has been recognised as the standout English striker in the whole country for his age group for the last 3 or 4 years now. Sambou is just another player to come through a L1 academy

Not all players develop at the same rate. TM has been pretty clear, when he has moved up to U21s he's not played well enough to push for a first team place.

Armstrong has been playing in the Newcastle U21s for a few years and is way ahead in development terms than Sambou.

Sambou is making a huge mistake and he will learn the hard way that he will end up on the football scrap heap.

If he doesn't want to commit to us then jog on.

I think it's crazy to compare the two. And if a player is annoyed as you say then work hard and MAKE the manager pick you. His agent can only see as far as his cut of the signing on fee.
