KEOGH FOR ENGLAND SQUAD - Why Not ??? (3 Viewers)

Allright I've got my Sky Blue glasses on yet again BUT name a better defender outside of the current England squad and Richard Keogh must feature there somewhere.

This guy is a walking demolition man of most strikers - the amount of blocks/tackles/interceptions are legend - virtually unbeatable in the air - capable of lung bursting runs down the flank - Keogh has it all.

He reminds me so much of Jamie Carragher with his style of play and is most certainly Club Captain material here at CCFC.

Just an observation in recommending Keogh for greater things but at the very least he is definitely worthy of Premiership football.

Am I going slightly overboard or should we acknowledge talent when we see it???

Micah Richards, Ledley King, Micheal Dawson, Jamie Carragher, Scott Dann, Roger Johnson, Phil Neville, rio Ferdinand, Anton Ferdinand, Ryan Shawcross, Jon Woodgate? That's off the top of my head. And just in the premier league. He had an awesome game yesterday, but playing for England above all the others? Laughable.

He was born in England so would have a choice . But if he wants an international career playing for Ireland should be the choice . Has he played for u21s or u18s for Ireland or England ?

If you're looking for a great international defender, relegation zone of the Championship isn't really where you'd start the hunt.

Regardless of his nationality, Keogh is a class player. He'd be better at right back at the minute. No disrespect to Cyrus, who is an emerging talent. Keogh is composed, brave, wholehearted, a threat going forward. Etc, etc. Definitely middle order Premier League quality. And this despite where we are in the table.

I have to admit watching him I'm absolutely stunned it's took him this long to get into the Championship. He's an exceptional player at this level and I do believe he'd be able to cut it in the top flight (although let's not tell Sisu that ey!)

Would love to the ages of all the people who think Keoghs that good. Yes he's one of our best players and yes he good enough for the Championship but he's not that good!

I used to think Phil Babb was class when he was with us then he goes Liverpool for the then record t'fr fee for a defender and looked bang average! The top level of the Premiership is like a different sport to what we see up the Rioch these days.

COuld name 10 better centre half i've seen play for us before Keogh........and none of them played for England!

Haha, finding this thread very amusing!

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Keogh is a very good Championship defender, and for me his pace means that he could play in the Premier League, just about.

But England?! Not a chance (and not just because he has played for ROI U-21's)

i agree with you here! He is such a comppsed player on and off the ball. Pretty consistant too. And he's got his diving technique down to a t aswell!

I too am amazed he was brought into the Championship sponer. Along with Platt, I must say well done Boothroud for bringing these two to the club! (About the only decent thing he did do, along with getting us so high in the table before it went tits up).

Can't believe some people think he was English! Although he's Irish in the way that a lot of Jack Charlton's gang were, heh heh.

The main reason he fell down the leagues is that he had a massive falling out with his then-manager Gary Johnson at Bristol C and got frozen out. This at a time when Johnson was leading his side to new highs, his verdict was perhaps taken as gospel. He's since been proven more than fallible (see his Peterboro and Northampton reigns-famous only for an ability to ship goals!)

I've dropped hints on here a few times about a bid on the previous deadline day by a Premiership club. I kept banging on about it as everyone was concentrating on Lukas, whereas the Keogh story didn't leak. SISU stuck to their guns saying he wasn't for sale, and quoted this club 2m. Problem is they are set to bid again in January, as are another Prem side. So enjoy him whilst you can, folks!

Well they'll all look like mongs when he does sign for a Premiership club, won't they? He's a top Championship player who is a natural in two positions and accomplished at playing the ball out of defence. There are 3 or 4 sides in the top flight whose squads are made up of that sort of player-and they are doing pretty darn well. Methinks he won't look out of place.

OK folks didn't know my erse from my arse BUT again lets give credit where its due instead of knocking our players let us sit back and appreciate what we have got.

We've got a cracking defender and I think the majority of posters to this thread feel he is good enough for middle order Prem.

He has the heart of a lion and his commitment to the cause is immense - all this talk about "laughable" "joke" "clueless" is a tad unfair when attempting to illustrate that Keogh has got what it takes is uncalled for.

He plays for us and for that I'm mighty thankful.

sorry they are right on this one, he is an average championship player like all of our other players! He is nowhere near a premiership player, get fricking real!!

As Otis quite rightly said on GMK it is like a graveyard. There are 2 reasons for that:

1. Being terribly maintained with it crashing consistently on match days.

2. The huge population of trolls and Leicester City supporters.

I love SBT - I actually get to talk about City and not the recession.

He looks good in our team because we haven't got a very good team.

He's still a good Championship player no matter how poor our team might be. And as for someone on that other forum saying he shouldn't even be in City's team, let alone Englands; well that's ludicrous.

Or even those up the road.

Do think an investment of multiple millions has helped a tad mind.
