How many boxers have died because of their sport? How many wrestlers? The list could go on. Oh, and don't say "They have a choice." Why do you think a horse will refuse a jump? Because it thinks "Fuck it. I can't be arsed!" And why do you think a horse will finish a race? Because it fuckin' LOVES it!

Are you saying boxers and horses have the same level of intelligence? :D

They all have more intelligence than Houchens Head

That's a bit personal isn't it? Just because I have an opinion, I have low intelligence? I will challenge you on any subject you wish and still beat you. Oh, and by the way, I was a military rider many years ago. I have ridden many horses in my lifetime. I understand horses. And your experience is....? Oh, wait. You once sat on a donkey at Blackpool beach. Now fuck off and crawl under a rock where you belong. c**t!

Isn't it all they know?

I'm no horse expert but have seen some race horses, they don't live a normal life where they go out and graze. It is all or nothing.

The fact is that no horse chooses to be a racehorse. No-on whispers in their ear the question and gets a neigh in reply. They are bred and raised to do it from birth. You could probably take a human baby and do the same thing, brain-wash it to run and jump without question.

Changing the conversation a bit ... Are there any female jockey's in the Grand National? They would weigh less so seems like it would be an advantage.
Katie Walsh and Nina Carberry I believe.

I actually spoke to a horse in a field last week and she (horse racing has led the way in equality for years before other sports, equal opportunities for male and female horses) told me that she would have loved to have been a race horse but she slipped through the net.

For one very good reason - money. It should be banned but Cheltenham is even worse.

The national is a disgrace as it allows far too many horses in the actual race many of which are totally ill equipped. It's far too long and many get withdrawn during the race and are shot afterwards.

The notion they are treated like kings during their career is crap as well. Most are destroyed or abandoned and all are condemned to 22 hours a day in a box rather than their natural environment.

It's a brutal brutal industry and the notion that owners and jockeys care about the horses is bollocks. They are generally a very unpleasant bunch.

The shooting of horses is a tactic used by trainers to warn the other horses to run and jump faster, Nicky Henderson is a well known user of this tactic, marching a horse from its stable and "introducing a shotgun" to the horse infront of all the other horses as a warning.

Its a very effective technique similar to a new manager starting at a football club and droping an underperforming player to stamp his authority on the group but you dont get an uproar about that do you?

Just looked it up:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_female_Grand_National_jockeys

each horse carries a certain weight due to historic performances.

So, if a female jockey (or lighter male jockey) is on board and the horse has been deemed to "carry 11 stone" weights would be added to the females jockeys saddle pack to bring the weight up.

Not sure whether serious or not? Dropping a footballer or shooting a horse..

I've seen pictures of women with weights added to their saddle bags

That is because of pack instinct and the fact they are a prey animal and not a predator.

It shows you have no understanding of their nature at all. Try sticking those horses in a field they will not be jumping fences.

Okay, Shit-for-brains. So you didn't read my post at #76.
They won't jump a fence in a field because they will be contented and grazing. Fuck me! What an absolute TWAT!!
