If TM stays and can spend a little bit early and not at the last minute i truly believe what has been learnt this season will serve us well and promotion will be a realistic target. Do I think in these circumstances we will achieve it? Yes.

Thing is if CCFC were anything else we wouldn't bother would we , if it were
a job a friend or a woman we'd have given up on it by now.
Trouble is we are CCFC and its in your blood isn't it, I really hope we recruit
well in the summer and have a fantastic promotion season.
The reality is we have to "more or less " start from scratch again, the budget
maybe on a par with others in league 1 but I fear it will have to stretch much
further than most.

But as you say there's always reasons to be positive, having luck on our side
would make a big difference, that's probably asking to much though.

Lovely and sunny here on the east coast :D

Remember the days when players were swapped plus cash to strengthen the squad? Why cant we get promising players from the lower leagues and if they dont quite make it use them to wheel and deal again. Seems silly just to get freebies etc and have a squad of players such as Henderson Ramage Hunt etc eating wages when that money could be used to try players such as the likes of Stokes etc. Not all will come good but you have a chance of getting something for them than journey men in their last season.

speak for yourself saying you wouldn't bother if it were a friend, a job or women. No point giving up, honestly think we will challenge next year. We will have a top half budget, and as like this year, if we can get in loans, which we aren't paying wages for, then we can make that budget stretch. Have faith.

If a friend had treated you as badly as this club (by club i mean owners past & present)
They wouldn't really be a friend would they.
Look as I said its in your blood, I'll be here till the day I die, doesn't mean I have to
view it through rose tinted glasses though. Think this season hurt more than any
i can remember, had just started to actually believe and then total capitulation.
Still the only way is up I guess. :mad:

Didn't the daily mail run an article on certain championship clubs interested in Stokes, or we not counting that as a rumour!!. On the other hand maybe the daily mail are on this site waiting for a filler. FFS, i never said it was true, i said if rumours are to be believed Fleck and Stokes will be off and if Championship football or Rangers come knocking who would blame them for taking the money and at a higher level of football.

Agree with this. A few months ago I got slaughter for saying we weren't ready for promotion this year but next I will be betting on us going up. The year TM has spent with the under 18s and under 21s has us playing his style of footie and with him already bringing in new ones already I think it's looking good. I rate quite a few of our youngsters and with Willis back we are strong today than we were at this time next year.

£2m Maddison fee vertically all gone within a week of receiving it ( ironically week before JR appeal in court... Same as 'Wilson' sale happened day after the original JR !!!!) If Norwich drop to Championship 'add-on's' are void ⚽️

Do we know what the add -ons are for them,normally the main add-on is
appearances racked up for the buying club. If that is so he's likely to get there
quicker in the championship, not only that but by the time they get promoted
next season he could be ready for the Prem

Can't see the budget being the same next season simply because we fucked up the break even figure and it sure as hell ain't going to go up initially.

We've got a few high earners going off the books, but Mowbrays transfer record has been pretty hit and miss and more importantly so has his matchday management.

Assuming we go for a similar squad makeup as this season, well rely on a couple of Prem kids on loan which can be very hit and miss and as seen this season will fade as we go through a season.

If we can find a decent CB that stays fit, and if we can find effective pace like Murphy (at first), and if we can find a goal threat, and if we can find some experience, and if we can sort Mowbrays inability toblast past Xmas, then we might come top 10 (similar to this year but lower wage bill). That's a lot of ifs.

The whole we fucked up the budget and the real break even figure is 14k is likely bollocks I suspect.

We've averaged 12,500 this season after being told we need 11k attendances to sustain our budget as well as the sale of Maddison for a few million, very soon people would have been asking questions about why there wasn't further investment in the team if we 1,500 fans above prediction as well as where the 2 million (lower estimate) windfall on top of that was going and why it wouldn't be invested on the pitch if we are above the predicted attendance we needed. By saying, actually we got the budget wrong and we need 14k attendances gives them a convenient excuse at the ideal time.

They can say whatever they like, safe in the knowledge it will be swallowed hook line and sinker.
The thought of a Hedge Fund or company miss-calculating such basic maths is quite frankly
laughable.

We have to remember we also have a years worth of shouting reports aswell, when Mowbray arrived he said the scouting network was virtually non existent. Surely that plays a major role in recruitment, at least we may have players which we have tracked for potentially a season or at least a few months. It's nice to see also that he has his eye on a few players which he knows are out of contract at the end of the season. I think if we start recruiting early we may be OK.

Mowbray needs to assemble a capable team that can go on a winning streak at the start of the season. Only winning will bring the crowds back, and only that will help the budget. I want to see big, tall, strong defenders and quick skillful wingers and strikers. We need a team full of players willing to give 100% for 90 minutes every game. And we need one or two penalty specialists who can put 9 out 10 away. All easier said than done of course.

Three deserved home wins in a row against Millwall, Bradford and Sheffield United has to be encouraging. All will depend on who stays, who goes and who comes in, obviously, but I think there are grounds for optimism. Five games ago I wouldn't have been renewing, now I am.

If TM manages to get us 9th
He will have under achieved on a reported top 8-6th player budget. By one place and not many points.
Which suggests to me that he is a manager that pretty much does as expected. Doesn't over achieve or massively under achieve.
Although he did start of with a squad that just escaped relegation and some of his budget is still tied up in some of those players.
My gut feeling is another season with the same budget he will get us in the top 6.
Give him a top 4 budget I would happily put some money on us finishing in the play offs close to automatic

At one point we started singing players and were being told it was because of the attendances that we could afford it. Hopefully the question was asked at the SCG meeting this week about why it suddenly changed.

Clear out deadwood like Conor Thomas, who is on a reported 6k a week, and frees up some wages to bring 2 players in alone with that wage!
