Go. Holding onto him is like chasing your losses at the roulette table - it never ends well. Don't wish the chap ill, but I'd rather spend the money elsewhere.

Well his first season. He played for a while, then got injured, came back at end of the season.
His second season, played for a while, then got injured, presumably comes back for pre season.

By the law of averages, his third season will be injury free! Wasn't Big Mo injured a lot when he first came?

Is there any similar defenders to Reda we can sign out there? If so I'd sign them before Reda, but he is such a presence for us and we haven't got that sort of big enforcer style player. It's hard not to sign him but has to be a pay as you play deal

if "similar" you mean "decent defender at this level, can chip in with some goals, is captain material and likely to be injured a lot"

then yes.................Ben Turner

if hed stayed fit i think we would have made playoffs shame, but least TM knows to look for physical defenders next season

It would be good if TM could find a physical defender who you could throw up top for the last 10 mins when chasing a game

I suppose there few and far between at this level who are affordable to us. In reality this is why he's here now if his playing stats were better he'd be in the championship with better wages.

Time for Reda to go - enjoyed his stay more than that bloke from M'boro years ago (O'Neill - somebody will correct me? - the one that looked like a gypsy - sorry but that's the easiest way I could think to describe him :slap:)

If we keep him, we deserve what will happen. Doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

I wouldn't risk any money on him unless pay as you play. Can get a similar player in with a better injury record. I would like to see us be a bit ambitious and go after Ben Turner, however, clubs will also be wary of his injuries too the last couple of years.

Not so sure it works all the time, David luiz for instance and Southamptons van dijk needs the right balance.
Like your thinking tho, a ball playing defender and a solid commanding type next to him.

yeah balance needed for sure i agree. inter used cambiasso and motta as 2 dm so they could cover. we could do same with fleck and vincelot to be fair.

david luiz has been given this image of being shite by the english media but i love him personally.

He's not going to sign a pay as you play deal. If he did he would be playing with the fear of getting injured. If he's a crock like everyone's saying then he's hardly likely to take that risk of not getting paid whilst injured. I'm sure someone will offer him a 1 year deal

I'd imagine in the club would still have to pay some sort of basic wage whilst injured.
After all they are still employees of the club so can't work for free.
