There's no mention of her in the article is there?

Hasn't he already started with Summer targets anyway?

Just tell me when he has signed a squad that can compete consistently at the top of the division in L1 from August 2016 to May 2017............. not interested in CT headlines

Just reads to me as talking to players who he may retain. He wouldn't add players from elsewhere until he needs them because it would cost wages at a time the club has little income. Could do a precontract agreement I suppose though.

To be fair Ashdown he does have to start looking at targets now, and we would all moan if he wasnt looking at team building and progression, but I also do understand the cynicsim whcih its hard not to feel. Lets hope we are proved wrong.

It's much better that he gets in there early surely? Players are still in contract with other teams but can discuss things with us for when their contract actually expires at the end of June.

First paragraph suggests he's talking to new
Targets.
"Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has lined up a number of meetings with summer targets this week in the hope that he can get some over the line early in the close season"
And on Monday he informs the current squad of who he intends to offer new deals and also let go.
Personally I think it's good that he's identified his summer targets and wants to meet them early. Let the player feel wanted by the manager, if he's out of our wage structure move on. No point going on holiday and doing last minute shopping when you come back in July when the pick of the players have gone.

By no means am I counting my chickens before they hatch but this has to be a positive ahead of next season. This time last year we didn't have a full time manager in place, MV's name hadn't even been mentioned so if we were talking to players ahead of this season it's possible that it was SW looking for player's and doing the contacting and that had to be a negative.

TM and MV are not only considerably more competent they're also more connected and experienced. That alone is a positive.

And we seem to be signing a lot of players into our academy which I can't remember happening before. Have we finally started planning for the long term?

And we have already signed players with next season in mind. Gadzev, Jones.

Yawn. More castoffs and loan freebies. And still the sheep will be saying "next year's the one.!" The same sheep that will rush to get the early bird season tickets. Guys, get real - it'll NEVER happen until SISU DO ONE. And I for one wouldn't bet on Mogga being manager at the start of the season - surely he's an intelligent and passionate guy who can see SISU have run this club into the ground - and a shared one at that LOL. So Telegraph, PLEASE stop trying to do SISU's spin for them and start telling it how it is.

Another person who spouts stuff off, shouts the loudest but doesn't go to games or factually get much right.

Sorry to thread drift:

Anyone know how much the season ticket is for adults once you make both your kids JSB's?

For my oldest this is the last year I can do it.

On Topic:

Last year we never had a nucleus, this year we have what looks like a start of a good nucleus.
I also trust Mowbray and what he's doing, he's the reason that made me go back and forgot about SISU for a while, my kids just want to watch football and i'm more than happy to give them that whilst Mowbray is still here.

Season ticket is the same price for adults anyway i think.

Agreed, it showed last year where we got in early on a few targets. The longer we mess around the more chance other clubs will snap up his targets. One thing that TM has shown is his ability to unlock contacts with premier league clubs.

Talking to targets doesn't sound like trying to renew contracts. For once we seem a little bit a head of the game and the rebuilding/strengthening of the squad seems to have started already. We don't normally get going until after the end of the season and people's holidays.

He's had a much longer period to assess the squad and players at his disposal than he had this time last year.

I believe this is the very best we've been going into a summer transfer window for many years.
Finally we have a group of football people in charge who are very knowledgable, and have great contacts in TM JC and MV. MV could be the most valuable asset we have actually in the office. A man who knows football and does the figures on it all and TMs wing man.
Good times ahead I strongly believe.

For once we are ahead of the curve. Some pre-contract signings/agreements for the best picks now will ensure we have a good pre-season. I think next season will be a defining one under TM's tutelage.
