I think fleck is confirming what the majority of us know. Our owners arnt backing the manager financialy to get out this league and unless they do we arnt going to keep players or sign those that will. Sisu just want their money back and hoping tm can get us promoted on a shoe string so they dont have to spend.
Youde think people like hadji would have learnt from the last 10 years but obviously not unless as i say hes giving joy a good seeing to if hes capable :blue:

So an insider in the club has a more valued opinion and knowledge than us outsiders? Is that what you are saying?

I'm merely pointing out the contradiction in your statement. You don't want them but you expect their money never the less.

I'd be happy if they left, but then I have to accept that we would only be as financially capable as our own generated revenue would allow.

He was backed, he was given money to sign Rose, Lorentzon, Hunt, Ramage and Darius Henderson and bar Rose the others were absolute shite.

Before the start of this season if you'd have said we'd have a squad with Joe Cole and Ben Turner in it and we didn't go up who would you blame? We were backed this season and the manager failed, no one else.

You bring up Cody, Madden, Hanson etc yet Armstrong has scored more than all of those in the league so what's your point there?

Nothing there we don't already know. Mowbray admits himself we were one of the top 6 teams. Our problem is the players just did not put in the effort and did not perform when needed. And Fleck should be looking at his own performances - not good enough. Mowbray needs to look at the tactics he employed and his team selections. At times bizarre, and sticking with his favourites even though they clearly were not the best choices.

Reduced the rent from £1.3 million a season to 100k?

Back Mowbray properly? How's he not been backed this season?

Please tell me how Walsall, Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Gillingham, Bradford are all above us please? Did I miss them spending millions last summer?

Our budget for this season has been absolutely more than enough to be able to get us out the division. The first half of the season shown that.

Agree to a point... What happened to the second half then?

At what price though? Spending a season in Northampton, losing out on buying the Ricoh, with the possibility of never owning our own ground. Yay! Good trade!

Agree sb. Despite sisu doing one or two things well They have overall destroyed the club and fanbase. You only have to look at how many of our players are now out of contract this year due to sisu being very short sighted, not having a clue how to run a football club and not wanting to invest in the club or team.

ACL were never going to sell the Ricoh under the £1.3 million circumstances.

They were only interested when their income streams got cut and sold to the first party of interest which was a Rugby club based in High Wycombe at the time.

Not saying what we did was right but what ACL did was just as bad.

The lower down the leagues you are, the shorter the contracts tend to be. We're not all that unique in this regard.

I think the point Fleck is trying to make is that despite the quality of the players if you rely on kids, on loan or otherwise, who have never experienced playing a full season they are going to burn out.

In the words of Jerry McGuire.... "Show me the money" Something most Footbal Club owners do.... Most, that is, unless your name is SISU.

I would point out that since going top of thr league in November, TM signed:
Lorentzson - 31
Rose - 26
Ramage - 32
Cole (perm) - 34
Hunt - 34
Henderson - 34
Spence - 19
Sayoud -18
Gadzhev - 28
Cargill - 19
Stephens - 22
Jones - 18

You look at some of those signings, and TM made duff decisions and couldn't have used the money more wisely to strengthen rather than bring in a loaf of players that hardly played

Don't tell me the highlighted players were the best choice. However they were available.

He may have also signed the best he could afford under the constraints of the budget. So was it TM's "duff decision" or was it a "duff" budget or do we just accept that that is the situation and we just have to pick the best of a bad bunch and hope they come good rather than struggle on with a squad that isn't big enough to cope with the injury chrisis we hit? The latter is what I would say is nearest the truth.

Who did the other teams competing at the top in league one sign in January that were better and attracted higher wages? We also retained Maddison who you think is a £5 million player isn't he?

it seems many expect perfect seasons from managers, there is always gonna be mistakes just like players make.

maybe he didnt spend well on a few, maybe he got best he could with budget who knows.

what we do know is that

jones, rose, cole helped the team, the rest are not gonna hurt us moving forwards on long contracts so its not really the end of the world.

we are in a bad position and whilst it owuld have been great to get promoted 1st time(and it was on) i think it is sensible to give TM 2-3 years to sort this club out

Why don't you tell me? You've clearly done the legwork and know all the fees and wages of all the moves.

What's Maddison got to do with it? Oh, I see. You can't attack the point so you attack the poster. Same old same old with you.

No I haven't a clue. It's note making a point it's you. If you've just made it up with no factual evidence fair enough - just makes you look a bit silly.

Maddison has something to do with it as we retained a player that was generally regarded as a £5 million player.

Look how long it took Fergie to get a decent replacement for Schmeichel...

I stated opinion not fact. I quoted three possible scenarios and pointed out which one I feel is most likely to be nearest the truth. You don't agree with my opinion and that's fair enough however as you haven't given an opposite opinion you're clearly arguing for the sake of arguing. That doesn't make you look silly - just makes you look like a childish, snivelling little prick who doesn't understand the difference between opinion and fact.

Look how long it took Fergie to sort the club out before going on to achieve football immortality at Man U. Some of the posters on here would have had him sacked within six months and then spent the next twelve years complaining that they'd never won anything.

Bang on, bar the likes of Wigan, Millwall and sheff united, there aren't many teams that could match us for wages. The vast majority of league one managers work under a budget, he could have not bothered signing for example Ramage, hunt, Lorentzson and Henderson and easily brought in at least one if not two higher caliber players.

Anyone would think we pay peanuts at cov.

And yes tony, I believe some of these signings have been duff decisions my the manager. He was happy with the budget which is why he agreed to stay on as manager.

So you'd retain a manager just because it worked for another club 30 years ago.

Great plan. I'm sure if we'd stuck with peter Reid through the bad times we'd now be drooling over a champions league final.

So who would you get in wasn't TM one of the bedt managets available at the time?
Most supporters seemed to believe it at the time.

Typical managers talk.
How many managers at any team do you hear moaning about their budget while they are still employed?

I keep hearing we pay top dollar in wages where does this come from?
Serious quesion.

Again the notion of having to suggest a successor before saying the outgoing manager is absurd.

Management section is an arduous task and much relies on luck and best fit. So it's very possible a manager with a poor track record compared to Mowbray would deliver at this club or a manager like Hill with no prior experience whatsoever.

It's an odd industry. Ranieri was lampooned as an abject failure at Greece. Defeat to the Faroe Islands and a joke figure. Look at Russell Slade and his appointment at Orient. A manager who lost football matches at will but came within an inch of promotion and went on to bigger things.

Wenger once said about Coventry that who'd want to manage them as you'd just lose matches as that is as a premier league manager. Wenger would fail miserably at coventry. The club have tried in Mowbray to employ a manager who is clearly above this league in terms of standing. My belief is this has not really worked. He knows budget limitations in league one but clearly has struggled with it and the league as a whole.
